FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to a computer display device / thin client
device with print functionality. In particular, the invention relates to a computer
display device / thin client device capable of sending print command from the
monitor itself without the physical need of a keyboard or a mouse.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Japanese Patent JP 09-150921 discloses an automatic warehouse system for
guiding the operation method based on operation manual. The document
provides a display device arranged in an automatic warehousing system, for
displaying information regarding operations of equipment installed therein. The
information can be stored in an external storage device or a video reproducing
device of a computer.

The displayed information can be printed by the user with the help of a print
button.
Document JP 08-161614 provides an automatic vending machine with
information service device. The system comprises a vending machine connected
to an information display device, a selector for displayed information, a printer
and an input / output device. Different types of information can be displayed on
the information display device by the vending machine, which can be selected by
a user for viewing the stored information in the vending machine. The user can
obtain a print of the displayed information using a print button.
US Patent 6, 766, 332 discloses an album type image display device, which can
read out album data, image data and album manager data from a memory card
and display the information.
A printer connected with the album display device can print hard copies of the
images. The album display device includes a display panel to display the
electronic album, and an operation panel. The operation panel contains various

function buttons including a print data setup button and a print data output
button. Upon activating the print data setup button, a print setup menu appears
for configuring various print parameters like page serial numbers, print area,
margin conditions, etc. and the like. When the print data output button is
switched on an output location addressing box appears up on the display panel,
for a user to select a print data output location. The print data output location
can be a local printer, a memory card, or an online printer.
The related art described above do not permit printing of the images in an
enlarged state. Also the systems disclosed do not include functionality of
important features like previewing, zooming in or zooming out the data before
sending the data to the printer for printing.
As the print manufacturing industry is growing rapidly a need was felt for high-
end display devices with such important functionalities like previewing, zooming
in and zooming out.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The main object of the present invention is to provide important printing
capabilities inside the display device itself. Such printing capabilities in a device
like a monitor can be provided using a print control button on the panel of the
display device.
With this printing functionality the user can carry out important functions in a
simple manner.
The user can switch on a print control button with embedded means provided in
a display device panel for taking out print of the current display on the screen.
The user can also set printing functionalities like zoom in, zoom out and preview
the print with the help of the button provided in the monitor panel itself.

The system will also provide unique functionality to print any document or image
or any application windows in their zoom in / zoom out state.
In short with the help of the print button of the monitor the user can select print
options to print available display on the screen.
In a preferred embodiment the present invention provides a computer display
device / thin client device comprising: a monitor with a monitor panel; a print
button arranged in said monitor panel provided with embedded means therein
for displaying zoom option and for automatic selection of said zoom option; and
a central processing unit provided with means for sending commands received
from said embedded means to a printer through said CPU for printing the data
displayed on said monitor.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
As shown in Figure 1, a monitor 1 is provided with a monitor panel 2. Print
button 3 with embedded means 4 for different functionalities is provided therein
for acting as an interface to outside world. With the help of the print button 3
the embedded means 4 can be invoked which presents a user interface on the
monitor 1 itself.
The embedded means 4 in the print button 3 are provided for displaying zoom
option with a fixed range to zoom in or zoom out. Means 4 also provided for
automatic selection of zoom in or zoom out the area to print and for displaying
the preview area. Means are also provided for printing the selected area with or
without choosing zoom option.
After exercising zoom in / zoom out option for a particular application, means 4
can send commands for printing display content in zoom in / zoom out state.
Means 5' provided in a central processing unit (CPU) 5 is responsible for
capturing the commands sent by means 4 of the print button 3. User can thus
give print commands to take print of current display content by a printer 6 from
the display device. Parsing of these commands and forming the data are also
carried out by means 5' of said CPU 5 before sending the data to printer 6 for
taking appropriate action for printing.

The hardware component / print button 3 with the embedded means 4 provided
on the monitor panel 2 thus acts as a user interface for printing capabilities.
The embedded means 4 shall be invoked on press of the print button 3. The
user shall be presented with a user interface on the monitor. This interface shall
have following menu items:
• Zoom 0 - 100 %
• Select Area
• Preview
• Print
The user can give direct print command to print current display content.
Otherwise user can choose application and can perform zoom in / zoom out
operation according to the requirement and can optionally preview and finally
give print command. Internally this component shall send commands via i2c
channel to the CPU 5.

The means 5' for receiving the commands shall get invoked once the user uses
the print button 3. Means 5' shall parse these commands, take appropriate
action and finally send the data to printer 6 for printing.
The main advantages of the present invention are:
(i) User can choose zoom in or zoom out option and can take print of its
zoom in or zoom out state.
(ii) Monitor can be kept in exhibitions, public places, the user can directly
print without use of keyboard and mouse.
(iii) This can be used to take print of still images from video by pressing
print button.
(iv) It can be widely used for such applications where print option is not
available. One can have print using print button.

WE CLAIM
1. A computer display device / thin client device comprising:
- a monitor with a monitor panel;
- a print button arranged in said monitor panel provided with
embedded means therein for displaying zoom option and for
automatic selection of said zoom option; and
- a central processing unit (CPU) provided with means for sending
commands received from said embedded means to a printer
through said CPU for printing the data displayed on said monitor.

2. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said embedded means is
configured to provide printing command to take print in the zoom in /
zoom out state of the current active window.
3. The device as claimed in claim 2, wherein said embedded means is
configured to display a print preview using a print menu.

4. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for sending
commands to the printer through the central processing unit (CPU) is
configured to parse the commands to form data before finally sending
command to the printer for printing.
5. The device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said central processing unit is
adapted to receive print commands through i2c channel for taking
appropriate printing action.
6. A computer display device / thin client device, substantially as herein
described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

The main object of the present invention is to provide important printing
