Abstract: This invention describes a tool (Pin) developed for dismantling of sleeve type rivets installed on structures intended for leak proof cabins. In aircraft assembly usually many types of rivets are used for structural integration of various parts. Sleeve type of rivet is one such type of rivet which is used in the areas where sealing or leak proof is required between two joints. These types of sleeve rivets are costly and sometimes needs to be removed while carrying out assembly for repair work, at that time it is very crucial to be cautious on the size of hole in the parent parts, hence the new concept of pin was introduced to avoid damage of parent part and also to reuse of sleeve type of rivets without damaging while removal.

TECHNICAL FIELD
This invention describes a concept used to dismantle sleeve type rivets used for structural assembly for leak proof joints.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Rivets are semi permanent type fasteners used for structural build of aircrafts. Sleeve type rivets are used to produce leak proof joints for fuel tanks. Some of these rivets may require to be removed during integration for rework of the parts for fitting additional components. After removing the backside nut, the shank of the rivets with sleeve used to be removed by drilling. This may permanently spoil the rivet and damage holes on the parent body. The new tool (PIN) invented can remove the sleeve without damaging the structural holes and rivets. In this process rivets can be reused after due inspection.
SUMMARY OF INVENTION
The new concept of pin is designed to suit the diameter of rivet sleeve, this pin used carefully to tap from backside of the rivet, both sleeve and shank can be removed safely. Pins can be manufactured according to the size of the rivets used by assessing the inner dia of the sleeve type rivets.
PROCESS DETAIL DESCRIPTION
These kinds of rivets are fitted to generate leak proof assembly mainly for aircraft fuel tank chambers. After installation, sleeve and the shank of the rivet will create a leak proof sealing to the riveting surfaces. Shank will be squeezed to the sleeve to produce airtight installation. For any kind of rework, the installed rivet used to be drilled out and new one will be installed. During this process rivet hole of the parent material may get damaged.
The new tool is designed considering the diameter of the rivet sleeves. While fabricating the Pin (Tool) dimensions of diameter of the pin to the inner diameter of the sleeve and collar to the outer diameter of the sleeve are taken into consideration. With the help of this pin, shank and sleeve of the rivet can be removed without damaging the rivet hole. These rivets can be reused after proper inspection for damages.
