FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to continuous gas fired annealing furnace.
BACKGROUND/PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
Glass units using coal consumes more fuel causing environment pollution. To
overcome the aforesaid drawback, a discontinuous, batch production type
muffle furnace is known to have been provided. This furnace consumes nearly
40% less fuel compared to the coal based muffle furnaces.
However, it is associated with the following disadvantages:
Non durable.
More heat losses to atmosphere.
No commissioning/fine-tuning.
No monitoring for regular gas consumption.
Discontinuous production-
Odd working conditions for workers.
Labour intensive requiring more labour cost.
Imperfect final product.
Manual quality control.
Hence, it is required to develop a continuous glass annealing furnace so as to
address the aforesaid drawbacks.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
The primary object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which overcomes disadvantages associated with the prior
art.
-3-
Another object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which is simple in construction and efficient.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which consumes less fuel.
Further object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which is more environment friendly.
Further object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which leads to improved quality of product and increased
production rate.
Another object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
anpealing furnace which is less labour intensive with better working
environment.
Further object of the present invention is to provide continuous gas fired
annealing furnace which is more thermal efficient and less health hazaradous.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention proposes a continuous, horizontal glass annealing
furnace, which saves fuel consumption and is more environmental friendly.
D'4e to horizontal design of furnace, it provides continuous and regular
production. It reduces heat loss by horizontally increasing temperature
gradient for uniform annealing using top to down position of the burner and
direct firing of it. Due to controlled temperature furnace and conveyer facility,
-4-
the quality of the product is improved and the production rate also increases.
Further, due to horizontal furnace less labor is required and completely
coyered furnace generates better working environment which reduces worker's
fatigue. Again, the proposed furnace is more thermal efficient and not health
hazardous.
Thus, large-scale benefits of proposed gas fired continuous furnace over muffle
fux;nace are not only for reducing energy consumption and pollution, but also
reduces health risks for workers and residents living in the area. Hence, this is
an eco-friendly solution for small scale industries.
Advantageous Features of the invention
1. Horizontal working stage.
2. Top to bottom firing.
3. Speed control and variation by chain and pulley.
4. Special type of burner.
5. Special type of trays for carrying the product from high temperature.
6. Less stainless steel application and therefore less heat consumption from
furnace and less heat loss.
7. Greater efficiency.
8. Controlled production and quality.
9. Better production rate and working condition.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
According to this invention, there is provided continuous gas fired glass
annealing furnace comprising of a conveyer chain system mounted with a

plurality of plates/trays passing through furnace continuously wherein said
furnace is slanted.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from
the ensuing description when read in conjunction with the accompanying
drawings and wherein:
Fig 1. shows: Isometric view of the present invention.
Fig. 2 shows: side view of the present invention.
DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH REFERENCE TO THE
AGCOMPANYING DRAWINGS:
The instant invention is directed to continuous gas fired glass annealing
furnace. Now, reference may be made to the drawings.
Said furnace as shown in fig. compnsing of conveyor chain system for the
continuous production. The chain of said conveyor chain system is mounted
with plurality of plates/trays with the help of H-section, in which the plates
continuously pass through the furnace from high temperature zone to room
temperature. The chain is driven by chain drivers at both ends of the furnace
Le. at the entrance and exit. These drivers are mounted on the respective shaft
as shown in the fig. The H-sections act as support for balancing of the
plates/trays and prevention of vibrations while rotating on the conveyor
system.
-6-
The tray neither absorbs heat during movement through furnace nor dissipate
he~t while moving under the furnace in open.
The furnace of the instant invention is covered except at the inlet for loading
the products and at the outlet for removal of the finished products for use.
As can be seen in the figure, the furnace is slanted i.e. lower at outlet and
higher at inlet end. So that, the raw products can be subjected to preheating
prior to annealing under the burner.
Said burner is provided from top through an elevated structure comprising a
plurality of rods embedded in ceramic wool with side walls made of for ex:
ceramic bricks without restricting scope of the invention to the same.
The burner comprising of atleast two parallel plates at the firing end, due to
which heat is uniformly distributed over the conveyer plate carrying the
products. Said burner is disposed from top to supply heat directly to the
