Abstract: Controlled laser etching of inscriptions on cockpit display panels, utilizes a C02 laser beam used as a tool for etching the inscription and special symbols. Wherein machined panels are coated with enamel based white paint up to 40u thickness, drying and then followed my checking in dark room with photometer equipped with special Jig, with a specific output voltage. The illumination range is 0.6 to 6.0 cd/m2. Based on illumination values, additional coat of enamel based white paint is applied or removed for achieving desired illumination. After attaining des red illumination value, top coat of blue/black paint is applied. After drying, blue/blac< coat is etched by controlling energy/speed of laser beam, without damaging base paint.
1. A laser etching process for inscriptions on display panels, comprising the
steps of:
- machining the raw material as per drawing requirements;
- application of enamel base white paint;
- inspection for illumination;
- application of blue/black paint when the illumination value falls in the range of 0.6-6 cd/m2; j
- laser etching the inscription required; and Checking for the final inscription made.

2. The laser etching process.for inscriptions on display panels, as claimed in
claim 1, characterized in that, during inspection for illumination, if the
illumination value is less than 0.6 cd/m2, layer of white paint is removed, thus

bringing the illumination value to the range of 0.6 - 6 cd/m, after which, blue/ black paint is applied.
3. The laser etching process for inscriptions on display panels, as claimed in
claims 1-2, characterized in that, during inspection for illumination, if the
illumination value, is more ;than 6 cd/m2, enamel base white paint layer is
applied and then the inspection procedure is repeated, until the illumination
value is brought to the range of 0.6 - 6 cd/m2, after which, blue/ black paint is
applied. |
