Abstract: A conveyor belt system for conveying a material from a first end of the conveyor belt system to a second end is described. The conveyor belt system comprises a mother belt extending from the first end to the second end. The mother belt has an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein the mother belt carries the material on the upper surface. A support structure is located below the mother belt, extending along the length of the mother belt, from the first end to the second end, to support the mother belt. In an example implementation, the support structure comprises at least two wedge-shaped support members, wherein the at least two wedge-shaped support members are installed on either edges of the support structure to interact with the lower surface of the mother belt to provide a trough shaped contour to the mother belt.
CLIAMS:1. A conveyor belt system for conveying a material from a first end of the conveyor belt system to a second end of the conveyor belt system, the second end being at a predetermined height above the first end, the conveyor belt system comprising:
a flexible mother belt comprising an upper surface and a lower surface for conveying the material on the upper surface, from the first end of the conveyor belt system to the second end of the conveyor belt system in a forward path, wherein the forward path is defined by a path of travel of the flexible mother belt from the first end of the conveyor belt system to the second end of the conveyor belt system and a return path is defined by the path of travel of the flexible mother belt from the second end of the conveyor belt system to the first end of the conveyor belt system; and
a support structure extending longitudinally along a length of the flexible mother belt for providing support to the flexible mother belt, such that the lower surface of the flexible mother belt slides along the support structure, the support structure comprising:
two wedge-shaped support members attached on either side of the support structure longitudinally along the forward path, wherein each of the two wedge-shaped support members abut against the lower surface on either side of the flexible mother belt, such that the flexible mother belt is imparted a trough contour in the forward path.
2. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 1, comprising a plurality of ribs attached to the upper surface of the flexible mother belt, wherein each of the plurality of ribs extends along a width of the flexible mother belt, and wherein each of the plurality of ribs restricts the material from sliding backwards during the movement of the flexible mother belt in the forward path.
3. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of the plurality of ribs has a V-shaped cross section.
4. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 3, wherein each of the plurality of ribs is made of a flexible material.
5. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 1, comprising a scrapper installed in proximity to the second end of the conveyor belt system to scrap excess material sticking to the upper surface of the flexible mother belt during the return path of the flexible mother belt.
6. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 5, wherein the scrapper is made of a resilient material.
7. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 6, wherein the scrapper is made of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
8. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 5, wherein the scrapper is substantially flat to interact with the upper surface of the flexible mother belt in the return path.
9. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the two wedge-shaped support members comprise an inclined surface to abut with the lower surface of the flexible mother belt in the forward path, and wherein the inclined surface is inclined at an angle of about 20 degrees to 25 degrees.
10. A conveyor belt system for conveying a material from a first end of the conveyor belt system to a second end of the conveyor belt system, the conveyor belt system comprising:
a mother belt extending from the first end of the conveyor belt system to the second end of the conveyor belt system, the mother belt having an upper surface and a lower surface, wherein the mother belt carries the material on the upper surface;
a support structure located below the mother belt, extending along a length of the mother belt, from the first end to the second end, to support the mother belt, the support structure comprising at least two wedge-shaped support members, wherein the at least two wedge-shaped support members are installed on either edges of the support structure to interact with the lower surface of the mother belt to provide a trough shape to the mother belt; and
a plurality of ribs installed on the upper surface of the mother belt, and extend to a width of the mother belt.
11. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of the plurality of ribs has a V-shaped cross-section.
12. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of the plurality of ribs has an U-shaped cross-section.
13. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of the plurality of ribs is made from a flexible material.
14. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of the plurality of ribs is about 20mm to 25mm in height.
15. The conveyor belt system as claimed in claim 10, wherein each of the at least two wedge-shaped support members comprises a surface inclined at about 20 to 25
degree angle to abut with the lower surface of the mother belt to impart the trough shape to the mother belt.
