Abstract: A system (100) for processing tubular members to produce cores is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a frame structure having a top portion and a bottom portion, at least a rotating drum (202) rotatably mounted at the top portion; at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) mounted on the bottom portion, a cutting blade (110) mounted at the bottom portion, and a slider (302) mounted at the bottom portion adapted to move horizontally. During operation of the system, tubular member is positioned by the slider (302) with respect to the cutting blade (110), is rotatably held between the rotating drum (202) and a pair of the rolling cylinders (106) and rotated about its axis, and the cutting blade is moved towards the tubular member (102) to make a cut.
Claims:1. A system (100) for processing a tubular member (102) into smaller cores, comprising:
a frame structure having a top portion and a bottom portion;
at least a rotating drum (202) rotatably mounted at the top portion;
at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) mounted on the bottom portion, the at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) being disposed parallel and longitudinally adjacent to one another,
wherein two of the at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) are fixedly mounted on the bottom portion,
wherein at least one middle pair of the at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) is rotatably mounted on the bottom portion, and having rotation axes parallel to rotation axis of the rotating drum (112), and
wherein towards the at least one middle pair of the at least three pair of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108), the rotating drum (202) is adapted to move during an operating condition so as to hold the tubular member (102) against the at least one middle pair of the at least three pair of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108);
a cutting blade (110) mounted at the bottom portion within a space between two of the at least three pairs of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108); and
a slider (302) mounted at the bottom portion and adapted to move horizontally during the operating condition to position the tubular member (102) with respect to the position of the cutting blade (110) such that the tubular member (302) is processed by the cutting blade (110) into small cores of predetermined length.
2. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the system (100) is a closed core cutting machine.
3. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cutting blade (110) is adapted to move vertically.
4. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the slider (302) is graduated to accurately determine length through which the slider (302) and the tubular member (102) are moved.
5. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the slider (302) is powered to move horizontally by one of an electrical mechanism and a mechanical mechanism.
6. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a dust collecting assembly.
7. The system (100) as claimed in claim 5, wherein the dust collecting assembly comprises:
a dust receiving unit (402) placed near the cutting blade (110) to receive the dust particles generated during processing of the tubular member (102); and
a dust collection unit (502) coupled to the dust receiving unit (402) to collect the dust particles received by the dust receiving unit (402).
8. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rotating drum (202) is moved towards the at least one middle pair of the at least three pair of rolling cylinders (104, 106, 108) by pneumatic mechanism (204).
