information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed
invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Conventionally, the gas insulated switchgear includes a tank that is
filled with the gas under high pressure. The tank needs to have a strength to withstand the pressure. The tanks is generally made of stainless steel 3Crl2, which is a high grade stainless steel and is very costly. Come techniques such as adding stiffeners to the low-grade steel for making the tank has incorporated to overcome the cost factor. However, these methods are not very much effective because adding stiffeners also an expensive process.
[0004] There is, therefore, a need of a tank that can be made at lower cost
and with a lower-grade steel.

disclosure.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0020] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the
disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0021] In the following description, numerous specific details are set forth
in order to provide a thorough understanding of embodiments of the present
invention. It will be apparent to one skilled in the art that embodiments of the
present invention may be practiced without some of these specific details.
[0022] The present disclosure relates to the field of gas insulated
switchgear. More particularly the present disclosure relates to a corrugated tank for gas insulated switchgear.
[0023] An embodiment of the present disclosure pertains to a tank for a
gas insulated switchgear, the tank includes a plurality of metal walls. Each of the

plurality of metal walls comprises one or more parallel groves to provide strength
to the tank against a gas pressure. A pressure releasing device configured with at
least one of the plurality of metal walls to release excess pressure in the tank.
[0024] In an embodiment, the plurality of metal walls can be made of
stainless steel SS304.
[0025] In an embodiment, a thickness of the plurality of metal walls is
between 2.5mm to 3mm.
[0026] In an embodiment, the one or more parallel grooves can be
embossed in the plurality of sidewalls throughout a length of the plurality of
walls.
[0027] In an embodiment, the embossing can give a deformed profile to
the plurality of walls to provide strength to the plurality of walls.
[0028] FIG. 1 illustrates an exemplary representation of a corrugated tank
for gas insulated switchgear, in accordance with an embodiment of the present
disclosure.
[0029] FIG. 2 illustrates an exemplary bottom view of the corrugated tank
for the gas insulated switchgear, in accordance with an embodiment of the present
disclosure.
[0030] As illustrated, a tank 100 for a gas insulated switchgear can
includes a plurality of metal walls 102. Each of the plurality of metal walls 102-1.
102-2, 102-3, 102-4 (collectively referred as sidewalls 102, hereinafter) can
includes one or more parallel groves 104 to provide strength to the plurality of
sidewalls 102 against a gas pressure. A pressure releasing device 106 configured
with at least one of the plurality of metal walls 102 to release excess pressure in
the tank.
[0031] In an embodiment, the plurality of metal walls 102 can be made of
stainless steel SS304. A thickness of the plurality of walls can be between 2.5mm
to 3mm. The one or more parallel grooves 104 can be embossed in the plurality of
sidewalls throughout a length of the plurality of walls. The embossing can be
performed by using but not limiting to pressing technique. The embossing can

give a deformed profile to the plurality of walls to provide strength to the plurality of walls.
[0032] In an embodiment, the pressure relief device 106 can burst in case
of high-pressure development inside the tank 100 to reduce the pressure.
Generally, the pressure relief device 106 can be mounted on the top or bottom of
the tank. Due to its placement on top and bottom there is less chance that the
operator will get hurt. Seal bosses 108 can be welded from inside the tank 100.
[0033] In an embodiment, mechanism mounted outside the tank 100 can
transfer forces inside the tank 100 through shafts. Each shaft passes through the seal bosses 108. Shaft can reciprocate (to & fro motion) or rotate inside the seal bosses 108 to transfer a motion from the mechanism to the internal components of tank 100. Mating between the shaft OD and seal boss ID can be such that there is no leakage happens from this area either when the shaft is static or during dynamic condition.
[0034] Moreover, in interpreting the specification, all terms should be
interpreted in the broadest possible manner consistent with the context. In particular, the terms "comprises" and "comprising" should be interpreted as referring to elements, components, or steps in a non-exclusive manner, indicating that the referenced elements, components, or steps may be present, or utilized, or combined with other elements, components, or steps that are not expressly referenced. Where the specification claims refer to at least one of something selected from the group consisting of A, B, C ....and N, the text should be interpreted as requiring only one element from the group, not A plus N, or B plus N, etc.
[0035] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the
invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
