Custom Made Hybrid Jaw Joint Prosthesis System And A Process Thereof

Abstract: The present invention relates to artificial hybrid custom-made jaw joint replacement systems for the patient who have deformed/devoid jaw joint with or without defective or absence of bony segment of lower jaw or bony region around the fossa of said joint, comprising; fossa assembly, mandibular component, bone cutting guides and transferring jig; This is called hybrid type of temporomandibular joint (jaw joint) prosthesis as it has some prefixed shape of inferior part of fossa and condylar head part of mandibular component for all type cases and rest parts is patient specific with custom-made; This type system will reduces the fabrication time and total cost, ease of fabrication and reduces the turn around time significantly. Fossa assembly have two components as superior and inferior part joined by mechanical means; Superior part is patient specific and varied the design according to the defect present around the fossa, if any; Inferior part is predefined unique shape for all type of cases; Mandibular component have single part with predefined unique head shape with rest part as patient specific design varied with extent of defect of the jaw; The superior part of fossa and mandibular component are made up of biocompatible metal or metal alloy like medical grade titanium and its alloy or any proven available material by using the CAD/CAM technology; Inferior part of fossa or some time the whole fossa (the cases without the surrounding bone defect or sometime in normal cases) can be made up of plastic type biocompatible material like ultra high molecular weight polyethylene or any proven available material by using CAD/CAM technology; Mandibular component have multiple special features; This system also have provision of 3D printed customized bone cutting guide and transferring jig for perfect installing of said joint components to the patient.
