Abstract: A DC power supply device (10) for converting an alternating current from a three phase alternating current power supply (1) to a direct current and supplying the same to a load (11) and capable of suppressing an excessive rush current and preventing element damage and circuit burnout is equipped with: a rectifying circuit (2) for rectifying the alternating current from the three phase alternating current power supply (1) and having a reactor (3) connected to the input side or output side thereof; a first capacitor (6a) and a second capacitor (6b) connected in series between the output terminals to the load (11); a charging means (charging unit (7)) for selectively charging the first capacitor (6a) and/or the second capacitor (6b); and a control unit (8) for controlling the charging unit (7). Therein when the charging of the first capacitor (6a) and the second capacitor (6b) starts the control unit (8) decreases the on duty so as to suppress the charging peak current to the first capacitor (6a) and to the second capacitor (6b) to a level at or below the allowable value of the charging unit (7) or rectifying circuit (2) and thereafter gradually increases the on duty after allowing a pre set interval to elapse before reaching the normal on duty.
