This invention relates to a ceiling fan. More particularly, the present invention relates to blades for ceiling fans. In a further and more specific aspect, the present invention relates to blades for ceiling fans that are fitted with replaceable decorative device so that the fan blades can be individually decorated as desired.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART
Conventional fans such as ceiling fans are well known in the prior art for circulating air. These fans are generally equipped with a motor having a rotor to which a plurality of radially extending fan blades is connected. Fan blades are coupled to the rotor by shank. Many times, ceiling fans not only provide air movement for a room, but also used for decorative purpose. Typically, fan blades are manufactured from a variety of materials and sizes to provide a choice of styles. The most common types of blades are made from metallic material such as aluminium. The fan is painted with different colours to match the furniture, walls, curtains etc.

Ceiling fans are so centrally visible when installed, they become part of the interior decoration of a room. Usually, the style of a ceiling fan is chosen to match the room's interior decoration. However, if the interior decoration changes, the user must either accept the inconsistency between the existing fan and new decoration, or must buy a totally new fan. Since most existing ceiling fans are not designed to accommodate a wide range of interchangeable parts, the user will most often have to buy a new fan.
Because of the above reason most people with ceiling fans simply accept the blades they receive with their fan, even if the blades do not possess the desired. The blades provided are generally generic type that has been produced in an attempt to match any decor. This of course, is generally not extremely successful.

It is possible to replace the blades, but again, they are not available separately and even if available the selection is very limited. Furthermore, many stores do not carry replacement blades because many ceiling fans require their own design of fan blade. Therefore many types of fan blades are needed with different decorations just to provide replacements.

When a specific style is desired, an individual can have custom fan blades prepared. In this manner, substantially any decor can be matched. This, however, is an extremely expensive solution to the problem, since generally, custom blades are formed from specific materials with a specific colour or hand painted to provide specific detailing and colors. Besides being expensive, it is often difficult to find someone willing and able to produce a custom fan blade which offers required performance.

Ceiling fans with decorative adornments are known in the art. Such decorative adornments are attached to the visible under side of the fan blade for the purpose of enhancing the aesthetics which are fitted to the fan blades with fasteners. The decorative adornments are provided with means to cover the plurality rivets used to fix the fan blade and the shank used to connect the fan blade with the motor assembly. Since the rivet arrangement vary from manufacturer to manufacture and the sweep of the fan, the decorative adornments are not inter changeable.

Therefore, there is a need for a ceiling fan that includes interchangeable novelty parts so that the fan can match the room's interior decoration even if it is changed from time to time, yet retaining its original configuration.

OBJECTS OF INVENTION
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved ceiling fan blade.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a decorative ceiling fan blade.

And another object of the present invention is to provide an inexpensive custom ceiling fan blade.
