DESC:TITLE OF THE INVENTION
“Dental care compositions with natural extracts”

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a dental care compositions and methods for preparation of the dental care compositions comprising naturally occurring anti-microbial preservatives.

OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
It is an objective of the present invention, to provide dental care compositions comprising ingredients from natural extracts exhibiting anti-microbial properties.
It is another objective of the present invention to provide methods of preparation of natural extracts for use as preservatives and foaming agents to reduce chemical toxicities in dental care compositions.

RELEVANT PRIOR ART OF THE INVENTION
Oral hygiene products provide two important functions, namely prevention of plaque and improve cosmetic functions. There were many methods used in the past maintain oral health. Few ancient civilizations chewed on frayed twigs, while few other civilizations swabbed teeth with vinegar. However, the ancient Egyptians were the first to use toothpaste that was mixed with powdered pumice (a porous rock formed in volcanic eruptions) with vinegar to maintain oral hygiene.
Dental plaque is primarily composed of bacteria forming an inter-bacterial matrix consisting of salivary carbohydrates and proteins, bacterial extra cellular products in the form of the polysaccharides, remnants of lysed bacteria, leukocytes and macrphages. Plaque formation may occur both sub-gingivally and supra-gingivally in the human oral cavity and most commonly formation will occur at the interproximal and gingival third areas of the teeth and furthermore, it is distributed similarly in both the upper and lower arches. Many dental care compositions are formulated to fight the plaque and keep healthy gums and teeth.
Presently, oral care compositions include solutions, emulsions and devices that help maintain healthy teeth and gums for use by individuals and by dental professionals. These compositions include toothpastes, tooth gels, mouth rinse, oral sprays, pastes, ointments, films, dental gels, dental floss, and other related products that are designed for the maintenance and care of the oral cavity. The dental care products available in the market contains list of active ingredients each exhibiting individual properties in maintaining oral hygiene.
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), all toothpastes with the ADA Seal of Acceptance must contain fluoride. In addition to fluoride, the dental care products contain - artificial flavours, artificial sweeteners, artificial colours, preservatives and foaming agents.
Artificial Flavours or Artificial sweeteners include Aspartame and/or Saccharin. Saccharin is a known carcinogen in rats. Although it hasn’t been shown to cause the same type of cancer in humans, it can cause coughing, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Aspartame when ingested, one of the chemicals in the compound is broken down into methanol, an alcohol which cannot be digested by humans. This can travel through the blood and may be converted into formaldehyde. As the amount of formaldehyde builds up in the body, due to long term usage, the damage caused can include headaches, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, and gastrointestinal distress. One of the 2014 study also determined that aspartame is a possible carcinogen.
Artificial colouring agents, include Titanium dioxide which is an inorganic chemical compound added as a colorant to make toothpaste white. Titanium oxide does not produce any oral benefit, however just added for the colouring of the toothpaste. Research is still unclear about titanium oxide in contact with the mucous membranes in the mouth. Furthermore, artificial dye is used to add colour to toothpaste to make it aesthetically pleasing. Another 2012 studies have linked artificial coloring chemicals to hyperactivity and ADHD in children.
Foaming agents in tooth paste include, SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) a chemical compound used as a surfactant, detergent, and denaturant in various cosmetics and industrial cleaners. Almost 16,000 studies have mentioned the toxic nature of SLS, yet it is still used in many cosmetic products, as well as most conventional toothpastes. Environmental Working Group (EWG) maintains that this chemical, which is also used as an insecticide, can cause irritation and organ toxicity. SLS irritates the mouth and strips away the lining, which can lead to canker sores. People have to be careful when looking for this chemical in toothpaste ingredient lists. Manufacturers often list SLS by other names, including: Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or Monododecyl ester or Sodium salt or Sulfuric acid or Sodium salt sulfuric acid or Monododecyl ester sodium salt sulfuric acid or Sulfuric acid monododecyl ester sodium salt or Aquarex methyl or Akyposal SDS or A13-00356. Few anhydrous oil based foaming agents have been tried in recent past, one disadvantage of these toothpaste formulations included unacceptable taste, and/or consistency, heat sensation during brushing, irritation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and hardening of the paste on storage.
Preservatives are anti-bacterial compounds used to preserve toothpaste. Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives to extend the shelf life of the toothpaste. Although the FDA is still reviewing and evaluating published studies on the safety of Parabens, these are known to disrupt hormones. Parabens are used in most cosmetic products and even in most grocery items. Even if the levels in these individual products are considered “safe,” the accumulation in our bodies could cause problems, including a possible increase in the risk of breast cancer.
Hence there is an increasing need for the use of natural ingredients in dental care products that provide the same safe efficacy quality for maintaining oral hygiene. Natural ingredients as colouring agents, flavouring agents are easily available have started to be found in oral care products recently. However, even these products claiming natural tend to contain chemical foaming agents and preservatives, as the efficacy of preservatives and foaming agents have not been replaceable with natural ingredients without losing the quality and ease of use of the conventional toothpastes. The present invention discloses methods and means to an oral care composition comprising natural extracts of preservative which has proven anti-microbial activity and natural foaming agents that prove safe for long term use.

ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a dental care composition with natural extracts, comprising 1% to 10% of Olivoil fruttoside and 0.01% to 5% of Radish Ferment to maintain oral hygiene. In one embodiment, the olivoil fruttiside in the oral care composition acts as a foaming agent, and Radish ferment in the oral care composition acts as natural preservative. This disclosure according to the present invention relates to oral care compositions having cleansing properties and being particularly effective in preventing dental calculus and in reducing caries formation in the mouth, containing a non-toxic active ingredient.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
