Depigmenting Cosmetic Composition

Abstract: The present invention relates to a topical cosmetic composition comprising, in a physiologically acceptable medium, at least: (a) cinnamaldehyde, and (b) one fatty acid or derivatives thereof selected from the C16-C18 fatty acids, their salts, their esters with C1-C4 alcohols, and mixtures thereof, said cinnamaldehyde (a) and fatty acid or derivatives thereof (b) being present in a weight ratio of (a)/(b) ranging from 0.7 :1 to 1 :0.003. The present invention also concerns a non-therapeutic cosmetic use of a combination of (a) cinnamaldehyde and (b) at least one fatty acid or derivatives thereof selected from the C16-C18 fatty acids, their salts, their esters with C1-C4 alcohols, and mixtures thereof in the pre-quoted weight ratio, as well as a non-therapeutic cosmetic process for whitening and/or depigmenting and/or lightening the keratin materials comprising the topical application to the keratin materials of said composition.
