Design Improvement In Venturi System Of Cheetal Helicopter To Improve The Reliability And Maintainab

Abstract: The venturi system is to create required suction by diverting the air flow from the engine cooling fan for the two oil coolers (Main Gear Box and Inversor Gear Box). Hose connects Engine oil cooler outlet to venturi system failed frequently due to 3-axis bend installation. To avoid the hose failure, three new components design evolved instead of single hose, consisting of two elbows and one rubber sleeve. Two elbows will eliminate two (X and Y) directional bend during installation. Total assembly of two elbows and rubber sleeve will eliminates third (Z) directional bend during installation. The rubber sleeve between two elbows will provide flexibility between two elbows during installation and eliminate the vibration between two rigid platforms (Engine and MGB platforms).

PREAMBLE: The invention resulted in design improvement in venturi system of Cheetal helicopter to improve reliability and maintainability.
FIELD OF INVENTION: This invention relates to an improvement to increase the efficiency of the venturi system.
USE OF INVENTION: The special purpose is to avoid frequent failures of hose in the venturi system. The function of venturi system is to create required suction by diverting the air flow from the engine cooling fan for the two oil coolers (Main Gear Box and Inversor Gear Box).
PRIOR ART: The previous venturi hose causes frequent damages and de-bonding of inner layer and outer layer. It will restrict the smooth flow of air and venturi effect is reduced, subsequently oil cooling efficiency reduces.
In order to avoid the frequent failure of venturi hose and improve the cooling efficiency, venturi hose with alternate material is developed.
OBJECT OF INVENTION: Venturi system is used for cooling MGB and IGB oil. Hose connects Engine oil cooler outlet to venturi system. Frequent failure on existing hose is due to several bends and pre-stressed during installation. To avoid the failures due to 3-axis bend installation, instead of single hose, two elbows connecting with one rubber sleeve has been introduced. The rubber sleeve between two elbows will provide flexibility between two elbows during installation.

STATEMENT OF INVENTION: The present invention eliminates the failure of hose and improve the cooling efficiency. The function of venturi system is to create required suction by diverting the air flow from the engine cooling fan for the two oil coolers (Main Gear Box and Inversor Gear Box).
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The function of venturi system is to create required suction by diverting the air flow from the engine cooling fan for the two oil coolers (Main Gear Box and Inversor Gear Box). Hose connects Engine oil cooler outlet to venturi system failed frequently within 50 to 100 hrs of flying. Due to the following reasons
• 3 axis bend installation of hose which causes frequent damages and de-bonding of inner layer and outer layer.
• Internal de-bonding will restrict the smooth flow of air and venture effect is reduced, subsequently oil cooling efficiency reduces.
• Damage of external layer of flexible hose due to Inversor Gear Box hose rubbing
To avoid the hose failure, three new components design evolved instead of single hose, consisting of two elbows and one rubber sleeve. Two elbows will eliminate two (X and Y) directional bend during installation.
