Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a desk with excellent flexibility in design to prevent complication of the manufacturing process. SOLUTION: A desk with a top plate formed into a rectangular plate shape and a support frame to support the top plate, the support frame including: a horizontal support portion that is placed along a periphery of the top plate; standing support portions that are connected to the horizontal support portion, extended in the upward and downward direction and arranged laterally; and a foot portion that is connected to a lower end part of the standing support portion, the standing support portion having a standing support member with an upper end part that is positioned on an end side opposite to a side for use in the peripheral part of the top plate, the foot portion having side members that are extended in the frontward and rearward direction and arranged laterally to contact with a floor.

TITLE OF THE INVENTION: DESK
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a desk suitably used in educational facilities or the
like.
BACKGROUND ART
[0002] Conventionally, a desk with a top plate supported by a support frame- that is
constituted with metal pipes is known as one suitably used in educational facilities or the
like (See Patent document 1, for example).
[0003] This support frame includes four leg members extended vertically and a plurality
of connecting members to connect the leg members with each other. The connecting
members are welded or screwed to the leg members. Hence, there is.a disadvantage that
the manufacturing process of the support frame is subject to complication because the
number of components is prone to be large and the number of welding and/or screwing
points consequently becomes large in the conventional desk.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED BY THE INVENTION
[0005] The present invention has paid attention to the above disadvantage, it is an object
of the present invention to provide a desk with excellent flexibility in design to prevent
complication of the manufacturing process.
MEANS OF SOLVING THE PROBLEMS
[0006] That is, the present invention is configured as below.
[0007] According to claim 1, a desk has a top plate formed into a rectangular plate shape
and a support frame to support the top plate, the support frame including: a horizontal
support portion that is placed along a periphery of the top plate; standing support portions
that are connected to the horizontal support portion, extended in the upward and
downward direction and arranged laterally; and a foot portion that is connected to a lower
end part of the standing support portion, the standing support portion having a standing
support member with an upper end part that is positioned on an end side opposite to a
side for use in the peripheral part of the top plate, the foot portion having side members
that are extended in the frontward and rearward direction and arranged laterally to
contact with a floor.
[0008] Such configuration with the side members being extended in the frontward and
rearward direction to contact with the floor can contribute to reducing the number of
components that constitute the support frame and the number of welding and/or screwing
points. In other words, the desk according to the present invention can be prevented
from complicating the manufacturing process.
[0009] According to claim 2 depending from claim 1, at least the standing support
portion and the foot portion are formed with metal pipes, the standing support portion
and the foot portion are combined by welding.
[0010] In such configuration with the foot portion being welded to the standing support
portion, those are combined having excellent strength.
[0011] According to claim 3 depending from claim 1 or 2, at least the standing support
portion and the foot portion are formed with metal pipes, a straight part in the standing
support portion and a straight part in the foot portion are combined by welding.
[0012] In such configuration with the straight part in the foot portion being welded to the
straight part in the standing support portion, the welding operation is possible without
relatively high skill when manufacturing.
[0013] According to claim 4 depending from claim 1, the standing support member and
the side member on one side are integrally formed by bending a pipe, and besides the
standing support member and the side member on the other side are integrally formed by
bending a pipe.
[0014] Such configuration can appropriately prevent the number of the components that
constitute the support frame from becoming large.
EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0015] The present invention described above is able to provide a desk with excellent
flexibility in design to prevent complication of the manufacturing process.

MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
[0017] Described below is a first embodiment of the present invention with reference to
FIGs.lto3.
[0018] A desk A has a top plate 1 formed into a rectangular plate shape, a support frame
2 to support the top plate 1, and a shelf 3 provided under the top plate 1. That will be
detailed below.
[0019] The top plate 1 is a flat plate having an oblong shape in a planar view.
[0020] The support frame 2 includes a horizontal support portion 21 that is placed along
a periphery 11 of the top plate 1, standing support portions 22 that are connected to the
horizontal support portion 21, extended in the upward and downward direction and
arranged laterally, and a foot portion 23 that is connected to lower end parts of the
standing support portions 22.
[0021] The horizontal, support portion 21 is formed with metal pipes. The horizontal
support portion 21 has side horizontal members 211 extended in the frontward and
rearward direction to support side parts of the top portion 1, and a rear horizontal member
212 extended in the right and left direction to support a rear part of the top portion 1.
[0022] The standing support portions 22 are formed with the metal pipes. Each of the
standing support portions 22 has a rear standing support member 221 extended in the
upward and downward direction with an upper end part that is positioned on an end side
11a opposite to a side for use in the peripheral part 11 of the top plate 1, and a front
standing support member 222 extended in the upward and downward direction that is
provided before the rear standing support member 221.
[0023] The foot portion 23 is formed with the metal pipe. The foot portion 23 has side
members 231 extended in the frontward and rearward direction and arranged laterally to
contact with a floor, and a rear member 232 extended in the right and left direction to
connect rear end parts of the side members 231 with each other.
[0024] The rear horizontal member 212 constituting the horizontal support portion 21
and the rear standing support members 221 constituting the standing support portions 22
are integrally formed by bending one pipe material.
[0025] The side horizontal members 211 constituting the horizontal support portion 21,
the front standing support members 222 constituting the standing support portions 22, the
side members 231 and the rear member 232 constituting the foot portion 23 are integrally
formed by bending one pipe material.
[0026] The rear standing support members 221 of the standing support portions 22 and
the rear member 232 of the foot portion 23 are combined by welding. More specifically,
each of straight parts 221a extended in the right and left direction that is formed at the
lower end part of each of the rear standing support members 221 in the standing support
portion 22 is welded to each of straight parts 232a extended in the right and left direction
that is formed at each side parts of the rear member 232 in the foot portion 23.
[0027] An upper end part of the standing support member 222 is linked to the upper end
part of the rear standing support member 221 via a link member R that also functions to
support the shelf 3.
[0028] The shelf 3, which is to accommodate books or other objects, is made of a metal
plate formed into a box shape. The shelf 3 has a shelf plate 30 that is set approximately
parallel to the top plate 1, side plates 31 that stands up on both right and left side edges of
the shelf plate 30, and a back plate 32 that stands up on a rear edge of the shelf plate 30.
[0029] As shown in FIG. 2, the desk A is configured such that the foot portion 23 thereof
can be put on a top plate 1' (i.e. on the reverse face of the top plate 1') of a desk V having
the same form and turned upside down and back to front.
[0030] As shown in FIG. 3, a plurality of another support frames 2 having the same shape
as that of the former 2 can be stacked up on the former 2 while the top plate 1 and the shelf
3 have not been attached to them.
[0031] Next, a second embodiment a third embodiment, and a fourth embodiment of the
present invention will be described with reference to FIGs. 4 to 6. The elements in those
embodiments that are equivalent or correspond to the ones described in the above first
embodiment are given the same reference signs thereas, the description thereof is omitted.

embodiments are each configured such that a standing support member 211 and a side
member 231 on one side, namely, on the left side are integrally formed by bending a pipe,
. and besides a standing support member 221 and a side member 231 on the other side,
namely, on the right side are integrally formed by bending a pipe.
[0033] FIG. 5 shows a chair B for a person to be seated as well as the desk A according to
the third embodiment. The desk A and the chair B constitutes a school set to be used in
educational facilities.
[0034] The chair B has a seat plate 4 formed into a plate shape with a seat surface, a back
plate 5 formed into a plate shape with a backrest surface, and a support body 6 formed
mainly of metal pipes to support the seat plate 4 and the back plate 5. The support body 6
includes seat support frames 61 formed into a L-shape in a side view to support the seat
plate 4, and a main frame 62 formed into a L-shape in the side view with an upper part to
support the back plate 5 and the seat support frames 61. The main frame 62 has foot
portions 621 at a lower end part thereof that are extended in the frontward and rearward
direction and put along a floor. A straight part 61a extended in the upward and
downward direction in the seat support frame 61 and a straight part 62a extended in the
upward and downward direction in the main frame 62 are combined by welding.

to FIGs. 7 and 8, and a sixth embodiment of the present invention will be described with
reference to FIG. 9. The elements in those embodiments that are equivalent or correspond
to the ones described in the above first embodiment are given the same reference signs
thereas, the description thereof is omitted.
[0036] As shown in FIG. 7, a desk A according to the fifth embodiment is configured
such that side horizontal members 211 constituting a horizontal support portion 21,
standing support members 221 constituting standing support portions 22, side members
231 constituting a foot portion 23, and a rear member 232 aire integrally formed by bending
a pipe. A rear horizontal member 212 has straight parts 212a extended downward on
both end sides thereof, each of the straight parts 212a is fixed by welding to a straight part
221b formed on an upper part of each of the standing support members 221 and extended
in the upward and downward direction. A middle part of the rear horizontal member
212 is linked to a middle part of the rear member 232 via an.auxiliary frame S extended in
the upward and downward direction.
[0037] A rack 3 is formed mainly of a plurality of metal pipes. The rack 3 includes rack
components 3a having a horizontal portion 33 extended horizontally in the right and left
direction and standing portions 34 extended upward from both end of the horizontal
portion 33. The rack 3 is constituted by arranging the rack components 3a along the
frontward and rearward direction on an under face of a top plate 1, the rack components
3a are able to support goods. A narrow rack component 3b having a horizontal portion
35 with a small length and standing portions 36 is provided on an end side 11a opposite to
a side for use of the top plate 1 so that the goods are prevented from dropping from the
rear side. The narrow rack component 3b is combined with the rack component 3a
positioned at the rear part. In other words, two standing portions 36, namely, two pipes
provided in the midst of the rack component 3a positioned at the rear part make it difficult
for even relatively small goods to drop.
[0038] As shown in FIG. 8, a plurality of another racks 3 having the same shape as that of
the former 3 can be stacked up on the former 3 while the top plate 1 and the support frame
2 have not been attached to them.
[0039] As shown in FIG. 9, a desk A according to the sixth embodiment with a size so
that two person can usethis at the same time has a top plate 1 that is relatively wide in the
right and left direction. The desk A is configured such that side horizontal members 211
constituting a horizontal support portion 21, lateral standing support members 221
constituting standing support portions 22, side members 231 constituting a foot portion 23,
and a rear member 232 are integrally formed by bending a pipe.
[0040] The support frame 2 according to this embodiment includes a middle support
frame member 2a placed at a middle part in the right and left direction of the top plate 1.
The middle support frame member 2a has a middle horizontal member 213 extended in
the frontward and rearward direction to be attached to and support the middle part of the
top plate 1, a middle standing support member 223 extended in the upward and
downward direction that is continuous with a rear end part of the middle horizontal
member 213, and a middle foot member 233 extended in the frontward and rearward
direction that is continuous with a lower end part of the standing support member 223 to
contact with a floor.
[0041] As described above, the desk A according to the present invention with the side
members 231 of the foot portion 23 extended in the frontward and rearward direction to
contact with the floor can contribute to reducing the number of components constituting
the support frame 2 and the number of welding and/or screwing points.

[0043] The horizontal support portion of the support frame should be placed along a
periphery of the top plate. That is, the horizontal support portion may be provided along
an end side opposite to a side for use in the peripheral part of the top plate, the horizontal
support portion may be provided along the right side or the left side in the peripheral part
of the top plate. Also, the horizontal support portion may be provided along a side for use
in the peripheral part of the top plate.

portion integrally, or the standing support portion may be connected to the horizontal
support portion by welding and so on.

1. A desk with a top plate formed into a rectangular plate shape and a support frame
to support the top plate,
the support frame comprising:
a horizontal support portion that is placed along a periphery of the top plate;
standing support portions that are connected to the horizontal support portion,
extended in the upward and downward direction and arranged laterally; and
a foot portion that is connected to a lower end part of the standing support
portion,
the standing support portion having a standing support member with an upper
end part that is positioned on an end side opposite to a side for use in the peripheral part
of the top plate,
the foot portion having side members that are extended in the frontward and
rearward direction and arranged laterally to contact with a floor.
2. The desk according to claim 1,
wherein at least the standing support portion and the foot portion are formed
with metal pipes, the standing support portion and the foot portion are combined by
welding.
3. The desk according to claim 1 or 2,
wherein at least the standing support portion and the foot portion are formed
with metal pipes, a straight part in the standing support portion and a straight part in the
foot portion are combined by welding.
4. . The desk according to claim 1,
wherein the standing support member and the side member on one side are
integrally formed by bending a pipe, and besides the standing support member and the
side member on the other side are integrally formed by bending a pipe.
