Development Of ‘Stree Swachtha’ Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine

Abstract: Starting off as a ‘MOVEMENT OF HYGIENE’ in the rural areas, ’STREE SWACHTHA’ is a fully automatic sanitary vending machine. Our machine consists of a high solid-state Electronic technology with mechanical advancements. It is a self-dispensing machine, which can be accessed by the women at cost of just in R5. In this mode, coin mechanism is programmable for various denominations. The units also provided with automatic power backup in case of power failure. The vending machine is provided with a physical inspection window for checking the availability of napkins. The unit can be wall mounted. The machine has a storage capacity of 25 pads. It mainly consists of a column of horizontal spring which can load the napkins. This machine is very cost efficient in nature and coming to its mechanism, it can be operated any time of the day with its simple ‘drop and collect’ system.

Claims:
1. We claim the usage of8051 Microcontroller and Infrared (IR) sensor for coin collection and napkin dispensation as innovative.
2. Our machine is not dependent on electricity instead it operates on battery, hence operational anytime and anywhere.
3. Our product-vending machine is easy to handle and to service as it has a simple ‘drop and collect’ mechanism’ and does not require any manual operation.
4. We claim our product is cost effective as it is available at a cost of 6600/- all inclusive, while the other vending machine costs between INR 10000- 27000 in the market.
5. The process of coin collection and napkin dispensation can be made with various intelligent feeds to the small microchip controller that monitors the entire process.
, Description:Brief description of the system

As the user drops a coin through the slot provided the coin is sensed by the IR sensor, and the process begins. A sensed coin waits for the entire process to be completed before getting deposited into the collection box. The process ends with one item being dispensed at the collection area, the rotation mechanism of the stepper working motor and the associated load ensures that proper operation takes place and the item is vended properly. The item as it gets dispensed is made to pass through the infra-red sensor. As the object cuts the infrared rays, we can say that the process is complete. If the item is not dispensed out and if there is no obstruction sensed by the sensor, then it is assumed that there is some problem in the system. In that case, the control goes to the coin stepper motor and coin is sent to the rejection area. This machine is operated by battery. While loading the products into the machine, the products are placed on the grooves of column one by one. After a column has been loaded fully, mechanisms have been provided to ensure that them a chine operates effectively. According to the proper design calculations the Sanitary Vending Machine is designed in Fig 1. & Fig 2.
