COMPLETE
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.
Device for Aligning Doors
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to alignment of doors, and more specifically, to a device for alignment of doors where uniform gap has to be maintained therebetween.
Background of the invention
Generally, doors of a panel experience a sagging problem when the doors are
assembled in the panel. Further, when width of the door increases, the severity of
the sagging problem also increases. The sagging problem with the doors arises due
to several reasons like manufacturing tolerances in a hinge, bush and pin of the door, uneven floor surface on which the panel is mounted and the like. The controlling of sagging of the door is difficult for these factors. Practically, there is always tilting of the door especially at the opposite end of the hinge. This in turn produces uneven gap between the two doors. Further, aesthetic of the panel also gets affected due to the non-uniform gap in the door.
In prior art, an alignment piece is used for educing uneven gap between the doors.
The alignment piece is assembled on a fixed structural member within the panel
which maintains uniform gap between doors. This alignment piece is provided on
two sides of the doors when seen from the front. The alignment piece acts as a
hinge as well as an aligning component for the doors. Previously used, TQ2, which is a door alignment device, has a metal plate welded on the fixed structural member of the panel which is acting as aligning component for panel doors.
However, the alignment piece used in the prior art is made of metal which is to be assembled on the fixed member in the panel. This requires an additional operation which in turn increases process time. Also, the metal alignment piece may damage the doors when the doors have to be closed.
Accordingly, there exists a need to provide a device for aligning the doors which overcomes abovementioned drawbacks.
Objects of the invention
An object of the present invention is to reduce uneven gap between doors when assembled.
Another object of the present invention is to reduce assembly time of a device for aligning the doors
Summary of the invention
Accordingly, the present invention provides a device for door alignment. The device comprises a body member having an opening adapted thereon for hardware to secure the body member to a fixed structure of a panel. The body member further comprises at least two projections configured on rear portion thereof. The projections are capable of being secured to slots provided in the fixed structure of the panel thereby restricting rotation of the body member when secured to the fixed structure. The device further includes an elongated member extending outwardly from front portion of the body member. The elongated body member includes a first tapering portion, a second portion extending outwardly from the first portion and a third chamfered portion extending from the second portion. Specifically, thickness of the second portion is equal to intended gap to be maintained between the two doors.

Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiments.
The present invention provides a device for aligning doors. The device can be used for alignment the doors where uniform gap has to be maintained between them.
Referring to figures 1, 2 and 3, there is shown a device [100) for aligning doors, in accordance with the present invention. The device [100] includes a body member (10) and elongated member (20).
The body member (10) is rectangular shaped member. The body member (10) includes an opening (12) adapted thereon. The opening (12) is provided centrally of the body member (10) which secures hardware thereto for fixing the body member (10) to a fixed structural (30) configured within a panel (not shown). In an embodiment, the hardware for fixing the body member (10) to the fixeci structure (20) is a M3 screw (12a).
In an embodiment, the body member (10] is secured to the fixed structural (30) by click fitting. As shown in figure 5a, 5b, and 5c, a protrusion (16) is provided on rear portion (10b] of the body member (10) for click fitting the body member (10) to the fixed structure (20) of the panel.
Further, the body member (10) includes at least two projections (14a, 14b) configured on the rear portion (10a) of the body member (10). The projections (14a, 14b) are capable of being secured to slots (not shown) provided in the fixed structure (30) thereby restricting rotation of the body member (10) when secured to the fixed structure (30).
The elongated member (20) extends outwardly from a front portion of the body member (10). The elongated member (20) includes a first tapering portion (22a), a second portion (22b) extending outwardly from the first tapering portion (22a) and a third chamfered portion (22c) extending from the second portion (22b). The third chamfered portion (22c) provides for smooth entry of the elongated member (20) in-between the door while closing of the doors. Specifically, the thickness of the second portion (22b) is equal to intended gap to be maintained between the two adjacent doors.
In an embodiment, the body member (10) and elongated member (20) are made of plastic material. Specifically, the body member (10) and elongated member (20) are moulded together to form a single unit.
Figure 4 shows configuration of the device (100) in between doors (50a, 50b) for aligning them. Specifically, the two adjacent doors (50a, 50b) rest on the device (100) such that the uniform intended gap is maintained between them.
Advantages of the invention
1. The device (100) provides a simple and convenient method to align the doors.
2. The device (100) improves aesthetic of the door by maintaining the uniform gap between the two adjacent doors.
3. The device (100) maintains alignment of the doors which ensures that defined area of surface of the door is available for a gasket compression. This helps in maintaining degree of protection for the product.
The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the present invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the present invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the present invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is understood that various omission and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstance may suggest or render expedient, but such are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention.
