Device For Facilitating Remote Interactive Lessons

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device (100) for facilitating remote interactive lessons between a first user and a second user. The proposed device (100) includes an inclinable bench (102), removably supported by a base and a vertical support assembly (104), the inclination being adjustable by the first user. The bench (102) is enabled to support an inclined platform (108) adapted to receive a reusable writing surface. A set of images of the writing surface are enabled to be captured by an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device, that is configured to be attached to a mount (106) coupled to the bench. A set of actuators (110) coupled to the mount (106) are configured to be operated by the first user in generating a plurality of movements of the mount. The set of images are then transmitted through the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device to the second user for interactive learning.

Specification

The present disclosure relates to the field of online tutoring. More particularly, it relates to a device for facilitating remote interactive lessons.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present disclosure. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed disclosure, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art. [0003] Online lessons are quite popular these days due to enhanced accessibility and time saving facilities. However, power point presentations, teaching materials shared in portable document file are not interactive in nature. The need for interactive demonstration through real-time drawing of diagrams, sketches, writing of equations, charts, tables and the likes are necessary for delivering lessons efficiently and generating positive student feedback. [0004] Existing techniques require an elaborate setup including camera, projector, whiteboard, workstation and the likes. Android application comprising digital whiteboards are also available but they are difficult to use in real-time without adequate experience. Therefore there is need in the art to develop a device that can provide low cost and portable online teaching setup facilitating easy integration of online and offline methods.
[0005] Existing literature discloses a telescopic assembly that can accommodate a mobile phone to capture images of a handwritten document. Other teaching equipments describe video recording setup for giving lessons on foreign language using projection mechanisms over writing board. Another solution describes an interactive query solving apparatus with writing and displaying capabilities. However, none discloses a setup that can movably support a single image capturing, displaying and transmitting device in a plurality of directions to facilitate remote interactive lessons. Also, none of the current disclosures describe a portable, low cost setup that does not require additional peripherals other than a single electronic handheld computing device. The proposed device can be fixed to

any planar surface with adhesive units coupled with the device. The proposed device also includes compartments within the device to store reusable writing and cleaning apparatus.
OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
[0006] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one
embodiment herein satisfies are as listed herein below.
[0007] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables a first user to interact with a
second user, using an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting
device, the interaction pertaining to online lessons.
[0008] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that includes an inclinable bench,
removably attached to a base and a vertical support.
[0009] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables in attachment of the electronic
image capturing, displaying and transmitting device to a mount, coupled to the
bench.
[0010] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables in a plurality of movements of
the mount through a set of actuators.
[0011] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables the first user to activate the set
of actuators through a set of input keys.
[0012] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables in attaching a reusable writing
surface to an inclined platform coupled to the bench.
[0013] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for
facilitating remote interactive lessons that facilitates in capturing a set of images
of the writing surface, displaying and transmitting the captured set of images
through the image capturing, displaying and transmitting device.

[0014] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for facilitating remote interactive lessons that enables in one or more hollow spaces coupled to the bench to accommodate one or more writing and cleaning apparatus, adapted for writing on and cleaning the writing surface.
[0015] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a device for facilitating remote interactive lessons that facilitates the bench to be attachable to a planar surface using one or more adhesive units coupled to the bench.
SUMMARY
[0016] The present disclosure relates to the field of online tutoring. More
particularly, it relates to a device for facilitating remote interactive lessons.
[0017] An aspect of the present disclosure pertains to a device for facilitating
remote interactive lessons that may enable a first user to interact with a second
user, using an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device.
[0018] In an aspect, the interaction may pertain to online lessons delivered by
the first user and received by the second user.
[0019] In an aspect, the device may include an inclinable bench that may be
removably attached to a base and a vertical support.
[0020] In an aspect, inclination of the bench may be varied by the first user at
one or more predefined angles based on position of the bench against the vertical
support.
[0021] In an aspect, the vertical support may be coupled to the base and may
include a serrated surface that may be enabled to accommodate an edge of the
bench.
[0022] In an aspect, a reusable writing surface may be attached with the help
of adjustable fixtures to an inclined platform that may be coupled to the bench.

transmitting device may be attached to a mount that may be coupled to the bench.

transmitting device may be configured to capture a set of images of the writing

plurality of movements including any or a combination of translation and rotation.

input keys that may be adapted to receive a set of input signals from the first user.

transmitted by the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device
to the second user through a communication network.

[0043] FIG. 1 illustrates exemplary block diagram of the proposed device (100) for facilitating remote interactive lessons, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0044] In an embodiment, the proposed device for facilitating remote interactive lessons (100) (interchangeably known as the device (100), herewith) may include a bench (102) that may be configured to be inclined at a plurality of predetermined angles with respect to a horizontal axis. The bench (102) may be configured to have an upper surface and a lower surface, the upper and the lower surface being parallel to each other. By way of example, the bench may be made of wood, metal, polymer and the likes. Inclination of the bench (102) may be adjusted by the first user according to the ergonomics of the first user. The bench (102) may be positioned along a vertical support.
[0045] In an embodiment, the device (104) may include a base and a vertical support assembly (104) (interchangeably known as the assembly (104), herewith) that may be removably attached to the bench. The assembly (104) may be

configured to provide support to the inclinable bench (102). In an embodiment, the base may have a first extended surface and a second extended surface, the first and the second extended surface being parallel to one another. By way of a non-limiting example, the vertical support may be rigidly coupled to the first extended surface and the bench may be removably coupled to the second extended surface. In an exemplary embodiment, the vertical support may have a serrated surface. The serrated surface may be enabled to accommodate an edge of the bench (102) at a plurality of predetermined inclinations associated with a plurality of serrations on the surface of contact with the bench (102). The assembly may be made of wood, metal, polymer and the likes.
[0046] In an embodiment, the bench (102) may be coupled to one or more adhesive units. In an exemplary embodiment, the one or more adhesive units may be of the form of suction cups that may facilitate adhesion of the bench through generation of vacuum at the point of contact with a planar surface. The one or more adhesive units may be attached to the lower surface of the bench (102). The one or more adhesive units may be enabled to facilitate in removably attaching the bench to the planar surface, the bench (102) being detached from the assembly (104). By way of example, the planar surface may be wall, table top, desk and the likes and the bench may be placed at a comfortable height and distance from the first user.
[0047] In an embodiment, the device (100) may include an inclined platform (108) that may be coupled to the upper surface of the bench. The inclined platform (108) may be configured to support a writing surface. The writing surface may be removably attached to the inclined platform by a set of adjustable fixtures. By way of example the adjustable fixtures may include any or a combination of paper clips, adhesive strips, Velcro strips, adjustable tension bars and the likes.

[0049] In an embodiment, the bench (102) may be coupled to one or more hollow spaces, configured to accommodate one or more writing apparatus, adapted for marking on the writing surface and one or more cleaning apparatus, adapted for cleaning the writing surface. The one or more cleaning apparatus may include eraser, duster, cotton pad, cloth, wet and dry wipes, sponge, digital eraser and the likes.
[0050] In an embodiment, the device (100) may include a mount (106) that may be coupled to the bench (102). The mount (106) may be configured to support an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device. The electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device may be removably attached to the mount (106) by bolts, adjustable screws, tension rods, spring based connectors and the likes. The electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device may be configured to capture a set of images of the writing surface, display the set of images and transmit the set of images to a remote second user for further interaction with the first user. In an embodiment, the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device may include devices like but not limited to a smartphone, a handheld smart camera cum display, a tablet pc, a laptop and a camcorder. In an alternate embodiment, the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device may be configured to record a video stream and transmit the video stream to the second user through a communication network.
[0051] In an embodiment, the communication network coupling the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device used by the first and the second user may include any or a combination of Wireless local area network (WLAN), Wide area network (WAN), Wireless fidelity (Wi-fi), Bluetooth, Worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), cellular communication network, GSM and the likes. The communication network may be a wireless network, a wired network or a combination thereof that may be implemented as one of the different types of networks, such as Intranet, Local

Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet, and the likes. Further, the communication network may either be a dedicated network or a shared network. The shared network may represent an association of the different types of networks that may use variety of protocols, for example, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and the likes. [0052] In an embodiment, the device (100) may include a set of actuators (110) coupled to the mount (106). The set of actuators may be enabled to provide a plurality of movements to the mount (106) for facilitating capture of the set of images. The range of movements of the mount (106) may be limited to a set of predetermined values. In an exemplary embodiment, an assembly of the mount (106) and the electronic device for capturing, displaying and transmitting the set of images may be enabled to be rotated through 180 degrees for capturing a set of images of the first user in place of the writing surface. Alternately, the electronic device for capturing, displaying and transmitting the set of images may be associated with one or more cameras including a front camera, a rear camera or both that may be selectively operated by the first user. The one or more cameras may be enabled to perform zooming, panning, focus adjustment, light balancing, color balancing and the likes.
[0053] In an embodiment, the set of actuators (110) may be configured to provide translational and rotational motion to the mount (106). The translational motion may facilitate in movement of the mount along any or a combination of x, y and z axis. The rotational motion may facilitate movement of the mount (106) along any or a combination of the horizontal and the vertical axes, in response to a set of input signals received from the first user. In an embodiment, the set of actuators (100) may include any or a combination of linear actuators and rotary actuators including but not limited to direct current motors, servo motors, relay, hydraulic piston, comb drive, electroactive polymer, piezoelectric actuator, thermal bimorph, pneumatic actuators and stepper motors.
[0054] In an embodiment, the set of actuators (110) may be coupled to a set of input keys, the set of input keys being adapted to receive the set of input signals

from the first user. The set of actuators (110) may be activated in response to the set of input signals. By way of example, the set of input keys may include tact switches, slide switches, magnetic switches, touchpads, buttons with touch sensitive panels, touchscreens, joysticks, push button switches and the likes. [0056] In an illustrative embodiment, the device (100) may include an inclinable bench (102), removably supported by a base and a vertical support assembly (104). The inclination may be adjusted by the first user by positioning the bench (102) along the vertical support that may have serrated surface to accommodate an edge of the bench (102) at a plurality of predetermined angles. The bench (102) may be enabled to support an inclined platform (108) that may be adapted to receive a reusable writing surface. The writing surface may be attached to the inclined platform (108) by adjustable fixtures. A set of images of the writing surface may be captured by an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device, that may be configured to be attached to a mount (106) coupled to the bench. A set of actuators (110) coupled to the mount (106) may be configured to be operated by the first user in generating a plurality of movements of the mount. The plurality of movements may include translational and rotational motion along and about any or a combination of x, y and z axis. The plurality of movements may facilitate capturing of the set of images of the writing surface and the first user. The set of images may be transmitted to the second user through a communication network shared by the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting devices of the first and the second user, for interactive learning. [0057] In an embodiment, the device (100) may include one or more hollow spaces coupled to the bench (102). The one or more hollow spaces may be enabled to accommodate one or more writing and cleaning apparatus associated with the reusable writing surface. The bench (102) may be configured to have one or more adhesive units for attachment to any planar surface, the bench (102) being detached from the base and vertical support assembly (104).

We Claim:

1. A device (100) for facilitating remote interactive lessons, the device comprising:
a bench, configured to be inclined at a plurality of predetermined angles with respect to a horizontal axis, wherein the inclination of the bench is adjusted by positioning the bench along a vertical support, wherein the vertical support has a serrated surface configured to accommodate an edge of the bench;
a removable base and vertical support assembly, configured to provide support to the bench, wherein the base has a first extended surface and a second extended surface, wherein the vertical support is coupled to the first extended surface and the bench is removably coupled to the second extended surface; wherein the first extended surface and the second extended surface are parallel to each other;
an inclined platform coupled to the bench, wherein the inclined platform is configured to support a writing surface, wherein the writing surface is removably attached to the inclined platform by a set of adjustable fixtures;
a mount, configured to support an electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device, wherein the mount is coupled to the bench, wherein the electronic image capturing, displaying and transmitting device is configured to capture a set of images of the writing surface and transmit the set of images to a remote second user for interaction;
a set of actuators coupled to the mount, wherein the set of actuators are enabled to provide a plurality of movements to the mount for facilitating capture of the set of images, wherein the range of movements of the mount are limited by a set of predetermined values.

2. The device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bench is coupled to one or more adhesive units, wherein the one or more adhesive units are enabled to facilitate in removably attaching the bench to a planar surface; wherein the bench is detached from the base and vertical support assembly.

The device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the set of actuators are configured to provide translational and rotational motion to the mount, wherein the translational motion facilitates in movement of the mount along any or a combination of x, y and z axis and wherein, the rotational motion facilitates movement of the mount along any or a combination of the horizontal and the vertical axes, in response to a set of input signals received from a first user.
4. The device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the set of actuators are coupled to a set of input keys, wherein the set of input keys are adapted to receive the set of input signals from the first user, wherein the set of actuators are activated in response to the set of input signals.
5. The device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bench includes one or more hollow spaces, wherein the one or more hollow spaces are configured to accommodate one or more writing apparatus, adapted for marking on the writing surface and one or more cleaning apparatus, adapted for cleaning the writing surface.
6. The device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the writing surface is configured to be reusable, wherein the writing surface includes any or a combination of paper, optical polymer sheets, glass, whiteboard, greenboard, blackboard, and digital writing pads and the writing apparatus

includes any or a combination of whiteboard marker, pencil, chalk and digital stylus.
