The present invention relates to devices for packaging and dispensing at least two fluids, such as cosmetic products, simultaneously.
The patent application FR 2 887 530 describes a flexible pouch having a delivering system to deliver at least two products that are contained in separated compartments of the pouch. The delivering system comprises two fixation parts that each extend in one of the compartments to deliver one of the products and that define between them a passage for a partition made of two sheets separating the compartments. The fixation parts are identical and symmetric regarding a median plane. In this pouch, the partition is bent between the fixation parts.
There exists a need for a new pouch to deliver at least two products that is convenient to use, reliable and easy to manufacture.
The invention meets this need with a device comprising:
a flexible pouch comprising first and second external sheets extending on respective sides of a median plane and a partition sheet extending between the first and second external sheets and defining with the first and second external sheets respective first and second compartments containing respective first and second fluid products,
a spout for delivering the two fluid products, the spout comprising first and second inserts to which the flexible pouch is attached, the first and second inserts comprising respective first and second outlet channels opening out in first and second compartments respectively and being separated by a gap in which the partition sheet is inserted, the first insert extending at least in part between the first external sheet and the partition sheet and the second insert extending at least in part between the second external sheet and the partition sheet, the first and second inserts having each a dissymmetric shape relative to the median plane.
With n device according the invention, the first and second fluid products can be delivered simultaneously while pressing the pouch. They exit through the first and second outlet channels.
The dissymmetric shapes of the first and second inserts facilitate the manufacturing, in particular the insertion and positioning of the inserts in the compartments, and the impervious sealing of the device as the partition is less bent.
Preferably, the compartments are tight.
The partition sheet has preferably an upper edge adjacent the spout comprising at least one notch, better comprising two notches each located between the adjacent end of the upper edge and a portion of the partition sheet in contact with the adjacent insert. Such notches have preferably a V-shape. The notches reduce the chance of having wrinkles in the partition and the first and second external sheets during sealing. Such wrinkles could reduce the resistance of the device to mechanical constraints and lead to leakage of at least one of the products.
If necessary, the first and second external sheets can be made of different materials depending the nature of the product contained in each compartment.
The partition sheet can be in a different material from the first and/or second external sheets.
The first and second external sheets and the partition sheet can be made of different materials, depending the nature of the products. Preferably, the first and second inserts extend each on only one side of the median plane. This improves the quality of the sealing of the partition to the inserts by limiting the areas of high curvature.
Each insert can have an envelope surface of substantially cylindrical shape. The envelope surface can be of cross section of substantially semi-circular or polygonal shape, in particular trapezoidal shape.
The first and second inserts have preferably the same shapes and different orientations relative to the pouch. The first insert can be identical to the second insert with a 180° rotation.
The first and second inserts each preferably have an envelope surface comprising a first substantially planar portion extending adjacent and parallel to the median plane of the pouch. These first planar portions are preferably in contact with the partition sheet. Thus, the partition comes into contact with the first planar portion and which helps reduce areas of high stress and/or curvature.
Preferably, each insert is spaced from the median plane by a distance ranging from 5 to 20 mm, better from 5 to 15 mm.
Preferably, each planar portion is spaced from the median plane by a distance ranging from 0.2 mm to 3 mm.
Preferably, the first and second inserts each extend on only one side of a sagittal plane perpendicular to the median plane for the device. They can each be spaced from the sagittal plane by a distance ranging from 2 to 10 mm, better from 2 to 5 mm.
Preferably, the first and second inserts each extend on only one side of the median plane and the inserts each have an envelope surface comprising a first substantially planar portion extending adjacent and parallel to the median plane of the pouch. Thus, the partition sheet comes into contact with the first planar portion of each insert and extends in the gap in between. The partition sheet extends substantially according to the median plane. Preferably, the first planar portions are spaced from the median plane of a distance that is higher or equal, preferably substantially equal, to half the thickness of the partition sheet. Preferably, the first planar portions are spaced from the median plane by a distance ranging from 5 to 20 mm, better from 5 to 15 mm.
The first and second inserts can each have an envelope surface comprising second substantially planar portions adjacent to the gap, parallel with each other and extending obliquely to the median plane. The second planar portions can oriented with an angle from HOto 150°, better from 120 to 140° relative to the median plane.
Preferably, each insert comprises a first longitudinal fin extending adjacent the gap and substantially toward the other insert. The first fins help reduce or avoid capillary leakage at the junction between the first external sheet, respectively the second external sheet, and the partition in the gap near the insert.
Preferably, each insert comprises a second longitudinal fin extending opposite the gap. The second fins helps reduce or avoid capillary leakage at the junction between the first external sheet, respectively the second external sheet, and the partition in proximity to the first insert, respectively the second insert, opposite the gap.
Preferably, each insert comprise transverse ribs spaced from each other along the longitudinal axis of the insert. The ribs help to melt the plastic of the inserts faster, which improves during manufacture the sealing of the device by ultrasonic welding for example.
Preferably, the spout is symmetrical relative to a central axis.
The spout may comprise a flange extending out of the pouch. The outlet channels preferably open out on a face of the flange opposite the first and second inserts. Preferably,
the outlet channels open out on the face of the flange at different position. The thickness of the flange is preferably such that the outlet channels open out on the face of the flange at positions that are aligned according to the sagittal plane.
Preferably, each outlet channel is oriented relative to the sagittal plane of the pouch at an angle ranging from 30° to 80°, better from 40° to 60°.
Preferably, the spout is dissymmetric relative the median plane and/or the sagittal plane. The spout can be symmetric relative to a central axis.
The spout may comprise a closure cap connected to the flange by a film hinge.
The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a device as defined above, comprising:
- inserting the inserts in the two compartments of the pouch through an upper opening of the pouch, the partition sheet being engaged in the gap between them,
- sealing the pouch to the inserts.
The partition sheet is sealed to the inserts, The compartments may be filled before inserting the fixation parts therein. As an alternative, the products are injected in the compartments through openings of the pouch after sealing the pouch to the inserts.
The products may be selected among hair products, and more particularly among coloration products.
The products may also be selected among products that need separated storage of at least two components thereof.
The invention also relates to a method for delivering the products from a device as defined above, comprising forcing the products to exit through the outlet channels by pressurizing the pouch, for example by exerting manual pressure thereon.

An example of a device according the invention is described below in relation with the figures. However, the invention is not limited to this example.
Figure 1 shows an example of a device 10 for packaging and dispensing a
product that comprises a flexible pouch 12 and a spout 20 on which the pouch is sealed.
10 As illustrated in figure 2, the device 10 comprises a flexible pouch 12 (also called
"sachet") comprising two external sheets 14 and 16 and a partition sheet 18 extending between the two external sheets 14 and 16. The two external sheets 14 and 16 and the partition sheet 18 are bonded together, for example by heat sealing, so as to form a unitary body. This body delimits two closed compartments 21 and 22 each receiving a corresponding 15 product.
As illustrated in figure 3, the external sheets 14, 16 and the partition sheet 18
comprise respective lower edges 14a, 16a, 18a, respective upper edges 14b, 16b, 18b and
respective side edges 14c, 16c, 18c extending between the corresponding upper and lower
edges.
20 The side edges 14c, 16c and 18c are bonded together in a sealed manner and so
are the lower edges 14a, 16a, 18a. Accordingly, the sheets 14,16 and 18 are bonded together except at the upper end of the compartments 21 and 22.
The external sheets 14, 16 and the partition sheet 18 are flexible sheets that preferably have a multilayer structure selected depending on the products that are stored in 25 the compartments.
The flexible sheets may comprise, for example, at least one layer of a polyolefine, for example polyethylene, of a Polyehylene terephthalate, of a polyamide, of a Ethylene Acrylic Acid, of a suitable varnish, of a metal, for example aluminum. Each sheet preferably comprises a superposition of layers of different materials, for example a layer of 30 adhesive between a polyethylene film, of a Polyehylene terephthalate, and an aluminum layer.
6
Preferably, the materials of the sheets 14, 16 and 18 are selected to allow their assembly by welding, by localized application of heat, for example by a ultrasonic welding apparatus.
Similarly, the partition sheet 9 may have on opposite faces different materials. 5 The partition sheet 9 may comprise at least two sheets laminated together, comprising materials respectively adapted to be in contact with the corresponding products contained in the compartments 21 and 22.
The pouch 20 may have different shapes and may contain different amounts of product. The maximum quantity of fluid product that can be stored in each compartment lies 10 for example between 20 ml and 100 ml, better between 20 ml and 50 ml.
The pouch 20 is preferably of a shape that is substantially symmetric about a median plane M and a sagittal plane S. However, the pouch could be of a different shape, with one side longer than the other.
As illustrated in figure 3, the partition sheet 18 may comprise two notches 25 on
15 its upper edge 18b. These notches 25 preferably have a V shape. The notches 25 may be
symmetric relative to the sagittal plane S. They may be separated by a distance r that is
between 15 mm and 75 mm, better between 45 mm and 55 mm. The notches 25 may have a
width / that is substantially equal to 5 mm and a height h substantially equal to 10 mm.
The spout 20 is fixedly attached in a sealed manner to inner surfaces of the pouch 20 12 and to the partition sheet 18. The spout 20 is configured to keep the product inside the flexible pouch 12 in a stable condition.
As illustrated in figures 4 to 11, the spout 20 comprises two inserts 30 and 32
that protrude from a flange 34 and that extend along respective longitudinal axes Yi and Y2
The inserts 30 and 32 are separated by a gap 36. The inserts 30 and 32 are each inserted in a
25 respective compartment 21 or 22 of the pouch 12, the partition sheet 18 extending in the gap
36. The openings of the compartments 21 and 22 are each sealed with an insert 30 or 32
therein. The notches 25 of the partition sheet 18 are located in a portion of the upper edge
18b that extends between the side edge 18c and the insert 30 or 32 that is the closest of the
said side edge 18c.
30 The inserts 30 and 32 are dissymmetric relative to the median plane M.
The inserts 30 and 32 each comprise an outlet channel 42 that opens out on the bottom of the insert 30 in the compartment 21 or 22 and on an outer face 44 of the flange 34.
7
The outlet channels 42 are inclined relative to the sagittal plane S by an angle p
ranging from 30° to 80°, better substantially equal to 45° and relative to the median plane
by an angle y ranging from 5° to 15°, better substantially equal to 11°. The outlet channels
42 open out on the flange 34 at different positions that are spaced to each other of a distance
5 k ranging from 2 mm to 7 mm better substantially equal to 4.5 mm
The spout 20 comprises, as illustrated, a closure cap 50 to close the outlet
channels from the outside when the device is not used. The cap 50 is attached to the flange
34 by a film hinge 54 that allows it to pass from an open position to a close position. The
cap 50 comprises two protruding closure pins 52 that are configured to insert into the outlet
10 channels 42 when the cap is in closed position.
The flange 34 presents a thickness t that is ranging from 3 mm to 10 mm better substantially equal to 4.5 mm.
The spout 20 may be symmetrical relative to the central axis X, as shown.
The inserts 30 and 32 of figures 4 to 11 are described below. However, the 15 invention in not limited to such inserts and other shapes are contemplated without going beyond the scope of the invention.
The inserts 30 and 32 are each disposed entirely on a unique side of the median
plane M and on a unique side of the sagittal plane S of the pouch 12. The inserts 30 and 32
are symmetrical relative to a central axis X.
20 They are spaced from the median plane M of a distance dthat is ranging from 0.
2 mm to 3 mm, better substantially equal to 0.6 mm and spaced from the sagittal plane S by a distance e that is ranging from 1 mm to 6 mm, better substantially equal to 1.8 mm.
The distance dis higher than or equal to half the thickness of the partition sheet 18. Preferably, the distance d is substantially equal to or slightly higher than half the 25 thickness of the partition sheet 18.
The insert 32 is identical to insert 30 but oriented with a 180° rotation.
The insert 30 is described below. The same description applies to the insert 32.
The insert 30 presents an envelope surface E that has a substantially trapezoidal
shape. The envelope surface E comprises a first planar portion 37 adjacent and parallel to
30 the median plane M, a second planar portion 38 adjacent to the gap and oriented obliquely
relative to the median plane M and the sagittal plane S, a third planar portion 39 spaced from
the gap and oriented obliquely relative to the median plane M and the sagittal plane S and a
fourth planar portion 37 spaced from median plane M and parallel to the latter. The second planar portion 38 forms an angle a with the median plane M that is ranging from 30° to 80°, better substantially equal to 60°.
The insert 30 comprises a plurality of transverse ribs 56 spaced from each other along the axis X. These ribs define a surface of contact with the sheets of the pouch and their small thickness help them melt during heat sealing of the pouch.
The insert 30 comprises a longitudinal fin 60 extending adjacent the gap 36 toward the axis X. This fin 60 extends at the junction of the partition sheet 18 with the external sheet 16 in the gap at the corner of the insert 30 joining the planar portions 37 and 38 to improve the sealing by preventing capillary leakage through the above recited junction.
The insert 30 also comprises a longitudinal fin 62 extending opposite the gap 36 at the junction of the partition sheet 18 with the external sheet 16 at the corner of the insert 30 to improve the sealing by preventing the capillary leakage through said junction. The longitudinal fin 62 extends substantially parallel to the median plane M.
When the spout 20 is set up on the pouch 12, the inserts 30 and 32 are inserted in respective compartments 21 and 22.
The partition sheet 18 extends against the planar portions 37 of both inserts 30 and 32 and through the gap 36. The partition sheet 18 extends substantially along the median plane M. Then, the pouch 12 is sealed on the inserts 30 and 32. The external sheets 14 and 16 follow the shape of the envelope surface E of the inserts 30 and 32.
The products can be poured in the compartments 21 and 22 before the spout 20 is set up. As an alternative, the products are inserted through the bottom of the pouch 12 before sealing the latter.
The products received in the compartments 21 and 22 may be a dyeing agent and an oxidative hair dyeing agent.
The pouch 12 is not limited to the embodiment described above, and the pouch may have another shape, being made for example with bellows or asymmetrical relative to the sagittal of median plane.
The spout 20 is neither limiter to the embodiment described above. For example, the inserts may have an envelope surface that is semi-circular.
