DESC:PROCESSING OF GEMSTONES ,CLAIMS:1. A gemstone processing system (100) comprising,
a laser source (102) to generate a Gaussian laser beam (104) having a non-uniform energy distribution for processing a gemstone (122);
a fundamental beam shaper (FBS) (110) to transform the Gaussian laser beam (104) to a square top-hat beam (112), the square top-hat beam (112) having uniform energy distribution ; and
a focusing unit (114) to focus the square top-hat beam (112) on the gemstone (124) for processing the gemstone (124).
2. The gemstone processing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a beam expander (106) positioned between the laser source (102) and the FBS (110) for modifying diameter of the Gaussian laser beam (104).
3. The gemstone processing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a beam expander (106) positioned after the FBS (110).
4. The gemstone processing system (100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the beam expander (106) is placed at a distance of about 100 mm from the FBS (110).
5. The gemstone processing system (100) as claimed in claim 4, wherein the beam bender (116) is positioned at an angle of about 45 degrees with respect to the FBS (110).
6. The gemstone processing system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the focusing unit (114) further comprises at least one of:
a beam bender (116) to bend the square top-hat beam (112) at a given angle to provide the square top-hat beam (112) for processing the gemstone (124); and
a beam delivery component (118) to generate a high intensity spot (122) on the gemstone using the square top hat beam (112), for processing the gemstone (124).
7. A method for gemstone processing, the method comprising:
receiving, a Gaussian laser beam having non-uniform energy distribution for processing a gemstone;
shaping, the Gaussian laser beam to transform the Gaussian laser beam to a square top-hat beam, wherein the square top-hat beam has uniform energy distribution; and
focusing, the square top-hat beam on the gemstone for processing the gemstone.
8. The method as claimed in claim 7, further expanding the Gaussian laser beam.
9. The method as claimed in claim 7, further expanding the square top-hat beam.
10. The method as claimed in claim 7, wherein the focusing further comprising:
bending, the square top-hat beam at an angle to provide the square top-hat beam for processing the gemstone; and
focusing, the square top hat beam to generates a high intensity spot on the gemstone for processing the gemstone.
