The following specification particularly describes the nature of the invention:-
2
An Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) provides an efficient, rapid and reliable method of casting and counting the polled votes in comparison to a conventional manual ballot and box based voting system.
However EVM still possess a threat of being seized and removed from the location by criminal and people with vested interests. One can still illegally cast votes in the forcefully moved and compromised EVM. This action can in no time can cause a catastrophic effect of the illegally casted votes that can reach to enormous proportions due to various indirect parameters such as media news coverage/alert, administration delays in decision making, reachability of security personnel, remote deactivation of EVM by a presiding officer etc. Such votes not only will affect the outcome of the results of the election but causes credibility issues in the minds of citizens causing them to loose interest and faith in the system and government.
3
The proposed system claims to prevent the malpractices in polling and bring transparency, security and safeguard voting right of citizen in a peaceful and safe environment.
Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) based licensing can be tried to transfer the actual data of polling/outcome and other data during general elections from different constituencies. For authenticity, voting machines can be embedded with GPS keys. Any information transaction with the m/c will request for GPS code after a fixed interval. The real time physical location of EVM will be constantly transmitted through a cable connected to the Base unit with Presiding officer which will be subsequently broadcasted to central server in a constituency or CEC office as per rule.
With this invention logistic of EVM becomes more reliable and precise and trackable. The m/c if tampered in transit will be detected and location of crime can be spotted for further action.
4
Before casting of vote starts the presiding office will be asked to feed in standard authentication details and location of booth, once it is tallied then only the base as well as ballot m/c will be active. Also when the counting gets over it will ask both the rights for closure of the both the units of machine.
In case of change of location of booth due to some emergency etc, such voting machine on transportation will use GPS charger with central election server to upgrade its new co-ordianted to counting centre where data will be retrieved against new DRM. The outcome / data statistics can be reported to central server in Chief election office ....
" - advantage - even if booth (EVM ) is captured etc m/c will not work as person will not be able to cast vote as control unit will inform central server and make ballot unit defunct.
5
IP address in combination can help for reliable and faster transmission of data through a dedicated network.
