Double Stage Amplification Circuit For Remote Keyless Entry Device In A Wrist Watch

Abstract: A remote keyless entry device generates a signal that actuates a locking or unlocking system in an automobile. A signal is sent to the automobile from a mobile handheld device which acts as the transmitter. A receiver that is part of the automobile receives the signal from the transmitter and accordingly carries out actions in terms of locking or unlocking the automobile door. Variations of such a device in varied shapes and forms and performing different functions for e.g. an electronic buzzer, a timer to show remaining time of parking, a time display are all integrated with the handheld device. Such devices are generally hooked to a key chain allowing easy use of the device. The safest form of this device that could be used for such an application is the wristwatch which is not easily misplaced or lost since it always remains on the wrist. In the present invention, a remote keyless entry system is integrated with a wristwatch that has an enhanced operational distance due to the use of a double stage amplifier circuit, a special antenna supported by a synchronous circuit wiring design. The device works on the principle of radio frequency wave propagation and consists of a transmitter that is part of a wristwatch and a receiver that is part of the automobile. This device has the ability to work from a minimum distance of 65 meters, has a digital display to indicate the status as "lock" or "unlock" and can also be housed in hybrid watch case. This wristwatch integrated with a keyless entry device using radio frequency can be used for locking and unlocking automobile doors with the added value delivery of "status indication" and "increased operational distance".

Specification

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
The invention described herein relates to a quartz digital wristwatch that can also function as a remote keyless entry device for an automobile using radio frequency. This wristwatch works as a remote keyless entry device through propagation of radio frequency (RF) waves. The circuit has been designed in a manner that wristwatch functions are integrated with the remote keyless entry device of an automobile without interfering with the normal functioning of the watch, which can also display the status -'lock' or 'unlock' of the automobile door. The unique feature of this invention is that a double stage amplification circuit has been incorporated for the working of the keyless entry device on a longer operational distance. Such a circuit also gives an option of using a hybrid case (made from a combination of materials like stainless steel and plastic) to house the wristwatch mechanism and the keyless entry device circuits. The watch also has all the features of a quartz digital watch like world time, calendar etc.
FULL PRIOR ART DETAILS
Several additional functions provided with remote keyless entry mechanisms for use with automobiles have been described in the patent references US6677851 (Remote keyless entry system with advanced activation features), US2006/0143463 (Keyless entry system and keyless entry method), US5204672 (Keyless entry system), JP2000087607 (Display of time on a remote keyless entry system), JP11229681 (timer with electronic buzzer to indicate parking time and time left out), JP04289486 (timer to indicate elapsed time to the user), JP3744185 (Locking device for vehicle to inform user of a parking time and the rest of the time), JP3141797 & JP10153024 (Keyless entry system with automatic lock function). In the inventions described in the prior art referred above, keyless entry mechanism forms a part of a traditional hand held device and are not combined with a watch.
A remote watch comprising of a keyless entry device has been described in the patent reference US7068151. The draw back with this invention is that the wrist watch case has to be made from plastic material since radio frequency technology cannot work in a metal case due to the effect of electromagnetic induction. Added to this, the status indication shown on the watch is through a flashing of the light emitting diode or through vibrations produced in the watch.
The present invention described hereunder has the ability to function in a hybrid case due to the introduction of a double stage amplification circuit. This circuit also helps in increasing operational distance. Further, the status indication is through a digital display indicating whether the door of the automobile is 'locked' or 'unlocked'.
OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION
Main objective of the invention is the integration of a remote keyless entry mechanism with the wristwatch which also facilitates the incorporation of the radio frequency circuit into a hybrid case. Further, to enhance the operational distance, a double stage

amplification circuit has been designed and integrated with the remote keyless entry mechanism in the wristwatch.
Another object of the invention is to provide a wristwatch that will allow the radio frequency to work in a hybrid wristwatch case made from a combination of metal & plastic. It is to be noted that radio frequency technology does not work in a metal watchcase because of electro magnetic interference.
Another objective of the invention is to provide a consumer friendly display which indicates status in the form of a digital display showing whether the automobile door is 'locked' or 'unlocked'.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION:
This invention provides a remote keyless entry device that is integrated with the wrist watch, has a double stage amplification circuit to increase operational distance and also works in a hybrid case. A digital display shows the status - 'lock' or 'unlock' of the automobile door in the format shown in FIG. I.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING
FIG. 1 shows a wristwatch with the seven segment display of 'lock' and 'unlock'
FIG. 2 shows a wristwatch integrated with remote keyless entry system
FIG. 3 shows a special antenna & circuit required for the RF to function through a hybrid
case.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
FIG. 1 shows the display of the watch indicating status - 'LOCK' or 'UNLOCK'. The seven segment display (1) is connected to the electronic circuit consisting of a double stage amplification circuit which displays the status of the automobile door as 'LOCK' & 'UNLOCK'.
FIG. 2 shows the electronic circuit board digital quartz watch circuit with radio frequency keyless entry system for an automobile. The FIG. 2a shows the circuit consisting of a simple loop antenna (3) & single stage amplification (4). The operational distance of a device integrated this type of a circuit is greatly impeded due to electromagnetic interference when the mechanism is housed in a hybrid case. FIG.2b shows the schematic diagram of the same single stage amplification circuit - simple loop antenna circuit.
FIG. 3 which concerns the invention described shows the circuit consisting of a new antenna design (5) & a newly designed multistage amplification circuit (6). The circuit shown in the FIG. 3 can operate even if housed in a hybrid case. FIG3b shows a schematic diagram of the multistage amplification circuit.
