FIELD OF THE INVENTION
5
This invention relates to a drill jig useful for holding a work piece while one
or more holes are drilled at pre determined positions therein.
10
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the manufacture of component from Raw material, castings and the like,
the inter-changeability of component is often depends upon the exact location of
15 drilled holes in the component. Duplication of hole locations has often been
maintained through the use of drill jigs. Such jigs are special tools provided with
some means for holding the part to be drilled and means for guiding the drill or
cutting tool. In large scale production a special drill jig may be made for each
part. Where production is moderate in quantity a standard type of jig may be
20 used to hold the work and to hold removable plates or other guide means which
may be made for a specific part in order to provide accuracy of drilling such as to
permit inter changeability of parts.
25 SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a new
and improved drill jig adapted to locate the work piece secured.
30
In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a Drill
Jig adapted to minimize the handling ad clamping of work piece and permit
multiple drilling.
Annexure‐II
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a drill
jig which is simple in design and easy to construct.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
drill jig adapted 5 pted for use in a drilling machine.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Drill Jig for holding work piece for multiple drilling operations in the single setup.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a
lighter Drill Jig to hold the work piece.
10 In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Drill jig that can be properly and effectively utilized to hold, position and clamping
of work pieces during by lesser skilled individuals.
15 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent
and descriptive in the description when considered together with figures/flow
charts presented:

Fig. 2 is a Top view of Drill Jig shown in fig.1
Fig. 3 is a Bottom view of Drill Jig shown in fig.1
25
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring Fig.1, Fig.2 and Fig.3, the present invention is an improved Drill
Jig 15 that holds and positions the work pieces 16 and guide the drill bit at the
30 predetermined locations in the work piece 16.
Annexure‐II
The principle element of the drill jig is a jig plate 1. Jig plate 1 is made of
mild steel and having eight holes 17, 18, 19 of different diameter. Hardened and
grind jig bushes 2, 3, 4 are fitted in these holes. Drill bit are guided in these
bushes 2, 5 3, 4 to create the hole at predetermined position. One side of the jig
plate has rectangular open cavity 20. The vertical sides 21 of the cavity 20 are
made perpendicular to the top surface A of the jig plate whereas horizontal side
surface B of the cavity is made parallel with the surface A of the jig plate. This
facilitates the Proper positioning of the work piece 16 in the jig plate 1and drill bit
10 approaches the work piece 16 in perfect perpendicular position.
Drill Jig 15 comprises four legs 5 which are fixed in the four corner of
clamp plate 10. Leg 5 has a grinded surface C which maintains the parallelism of
the top surface of jig plate A within 0.020 mm after assembly.
Support plate 6 is fixed with the jig plate 1 by two Allen head screws 7.one
15 pressure screw 8 is fitted in the support plate 6 to provide the force to the work
piece 16. This force keeps the work piece 16 in a fixed location.
Two pressure screws 8 fitted perpendiculars to each other at the jig plate
1 and support plate 6 are used to located and fine adjustment of the work piece
16 in the drill jig 15.
20 Two pads 9 are provided and fixed at the pressure screw 8 to prevent the
damage of the work piece 16 during positioning of the work piece 16 by pressure
screw 8.
Clamp plate 10 is used to securely clamp the work piece 16 in jig plate 1.
Clamp plate10 has two holes 22 by which clamp plate 10 are fixed to the jig plate
25 1.Clamp plate also have hole axially matching to the hole of jig plate work as a
relief hole.
Two Special studs 11, 14, Nut 12 and washer 13 are used to clamp jig
plate and clamp plate together.
