Abstract: This invention relates to a drill Jig for holding a component for drilling operation on drilling machine and thereby facilitating multiple holes in a component. Object of the present invention is to provide a Jig for holding a component and supporting the job thereof to maintain the precise dimensional and positional accuracy (of 7microns) thereof to obtain multiple holes (13 nos. in a component). A more specific object of this invention is the improvement in productivity (by designing only one jig for all the holes) and making provision of drilling for all positions in Jig (With positional accuracy of 3microns) so that holes can be made with H7tolerance and positional accuracy of 7microns in a component.
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a drill Jig for holding a component for drilling
operation on drilling machine and thereby facilitating multiple holes in a
component.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention pertains to Jig for holding the component for drilling
operation, and more particularly to the job in way that support to locate the
drilling tool in predefined drilling location through which drilling operation can be
performed on drilling machine by less skilled operator also. An object of this
invention is the provision of a drill Jig for drilling operation on which holes are
already positioned and located with closer tolerances and capable of drilling in
component with high degree of accuracy. This Jig helps to minimize the setup
time and maximize the productivity.

SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a Jig that
facilitates holding of a component for drilling operation on a drilling machine and
supporting component the thereof performing the drilling operation with
dimensional accuracy and positional accuracy.

In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a Jig
for holding metal plate for accurate positioning of component on Jig with respect
to desired holes position.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is provided a Jig
for rigid holding of metal plate.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig for holding a component and mounting it in fixed position on the bed of drilling
machine.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
more rigid and accurate Jig to hold the component.
. In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig for holding component for multiple drilling operations in the single setup.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a
lighter Jig to hold the component.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig that can be properly and effectively utilized to hold and firmly fixed the
component by lesser skilled individuals.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig for holding component rigidly (because component thickness is very less)
without creating any distortion in the component.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring Fig 1, the present invention is designed and manufactured here
for the drilling in the component (Refer Fig 3) to get the specified tolerance and
positional accuracy with respect to its center position in less time
Drill Jig (Fig1) comprises one Jig plate (of dia80 and having thickness
15mm),one cover plate(of dia65 and having thickness11mm),one leg to fix the jig
on the m/c, one locating pin(to locate the component) and one diamond pin(to
get the accuracy). All the holes to be drilled in the component made in Jig plates
as Jig holes within accurate positional tolerance as per the standard followed in
Tool design.
All the Jig holes are bored in Jig-boring to get the specified tolerance and
positional accuracy with respect to its center position. Jig plate has a surface ‘G’
the jig rest on this surface. Parallelism of the component butting surface is
maintained 0.05 w.r.t. the surface G. Jig plates also hold the locating pin 4 &

Drill Jig comprises a cover plate (Detail no. 2,) which clamped the
component on the butting surface of Jig plate 1 through the Allen screw 9 with
washer 10. Cover plate have a grinding surface which support the metal plate.
Drill Jig comprises 04no. legs (Detail no. 3) which are fixed in the Jig plate
1 equi-spaced on 900 to ensure the stability of jig during drilling operation. Leg 3
have a grinded surface ‘G’ which is the base surface of the jig. All TCS are
maintained in the jig w.r.t. this surface.
Drill Jig comprise a location pin 4 (std. Dowel pin) which locate &
positioned the component.

Drill Jig comprise a Diamond pin 5 (std. Dowel pin) which ensure the
positional accuracy of holes while drilling. Drill Jig comprises a position Pin 6 & 7
Std. Dowel pin which are fixed with Jig plate 1. They guide the cover plate 2
through the two holes made in cover plate 2 to provide the proper positioning to
the cover plate 2 when clamped the metal plate.
Drill Jig comprise a Allen screw 8 (std.) & washer 09 (std.) to clamped the
cover plate 2 with Jig plate 1 to clamped the metal plate on surface ‘A’ of the Jig
plate 1 .

1. A Jig for holding a small component for drilling operation and provide guiding mechanism to accurate positioning of drill tool and supporting the component to be positioned in the Jig. The Jig comprising:
- Jig Plate adapted to be coupled to the Drilling machine and provides support to the component and other sub component of Jig rest on the component and positioned on the bottom surface of Jig plate.
- Four legs are rigidly coupled to the bottom surface of the bottom surface of the Jig plate through interference fitting.
- Location Pin that guides the metal plate to remain in pre-determined position with respect to Jig and combination with Diamond pin provided to prevent the X, Y direction movement and accurate alignment with respect to the reference surface.
- Cover plate to mount into the component the Jig and hold it rigidly in position component.
- Allen screw couple the cover plate with the Jig plate for holding the in between to avoid over the any deflection of the metal plate during drilling operations and maintain dimensional accuracy.
2. The Jig for holding the component of claim 2 wherein, top and bottom surfaces of the Jig plate are substantially parallel.
3. The Jig for holding the of component claim 2 wherein, bottom surface of the Jig plate is mounted with four legs to positioned on the drilling machine bed.
4. The Jig for holding component of claim 2 wherein, the Jig plate is provide with Diamond pin and location pin for accurate positioning of the metal plate during the drilling operation.
