FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to drill Jig for drilling 5 g operation on a metal plate
using drilling machine. More specifically, it relates to a Jig, which may be used to
hold and locate metal plate. Drill Jig used to hold the metal plate and drilling
locations are predefined in Jig in a manners that drilling can be done in metal
piece in predefined positions through drill Jig.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention pertains to Jig for holding the metal plate for drilling
operation, and more particularly to the job in way that support to locate the
15 drilling tool in predefined drilling location through which drilling operation can be
performed on drilling machine by less skilled operator also. An object of this
invention is the provision of a drill Jig for drilling operation on which holes are
already positioned and located with tighter tolerances and capable of drilling on
metal plate with high degree of accuracy. This Jig helps to minimize the setup
20 time and maximize the productivity.

SUMMARY OF PRESENT INVENTION
25 In accordance with one aspect of present invention is to provide a Jig that
facilitates holding of a metal plate for drilling operation on a drilling machine and
supporting the metal plate thereof performing the drilling operation with
dimensional accuracy.
In accordance with second aspect of present invention is to provide a Jig
30 for holding metal plate for accurate positioning of metal plate on Jig with respect
to desired holes position.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is provided a Jig
for rigid holding of metal plate.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
35 Jig for holding a metal plate and mounting it in fixed position on the bed of drilling
machine.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
more rigid and accurate Jig to hold the metal plate.
. In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig 5 for holding metal plate for multiple drilling operations in the single setup.
In accordance with another aspect of present invention is to provide a
lighter Jig to hold the metal plate.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present invention is to provide a
Jig that can be properly and effectively utilized to hold and firmly fixed the metal
10 plate by lesser skilled individuals.
In accordance with yet another aspect of present of invention is to provide
a Jig for holding metal plate that have location pin and diamond pin for accurate
position of the metal plate.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring Fig 1, Fig 2, Fig 3 & Fig 4 the present invention is an improved
drill Jig 11 of the drilling of metal plate 12 5 to get the close tolerance on the hole
centers within less time.
Drill Jig 11 comprises Jig plats 1. All the holes to be drilled in the metal
plate made in Jig plates as Jig holes within accurate positional tolerance & all the
Jig holes grinded to suit with the size of drill used to drill in the metal plate. Jig
10 plate 1 has a grinding surface ‘A’ the metal plate rest on this surface. Jig plates
also hold the locating pin 4 & Diamond Pin 5.
Drill Jig comprise a cover plate 2, which clamped the metal plate on the
surface ‘A’ of Jig plate 1 through the Allen screw 9 with washer 10. Cover plate
have a grinding surface ‘B’ which support the metal plate.
15 Drill Jig comprise qty. 4 leg 3 which are fixed in the Jig plate 1 placed
on 900 leg 3 Press fit in these holes. leg 3 have a grinded surface ‘C’ after assy
with Jig plate 1 maintains the parallelism within 0.020 mm with surface ‘A’ .Jig
plate 1 & surface C of Leg 3 each other.
Drill Jig comprise a location pin 4 (std. Dowel pin) which locate the metal
20 plate & position the metal plate.
Drill Jig comprise a located pin 5 (std. Dowel pin) which also locate the
metal plate & position the metal plate.
Drill Jig comprises a position Pin 6 & 7 Std. Dowel pin which are fixed with
Jig plate 1. They guide the cover plate 2 through the two holes made in cover
25 plate 2 to provide the proper positioning to the cover plate 2 when clamped the
metal plate.
Drill Jig comprise a pin 8 (std. Dowel pin) which give the proper position to
the metal plate to get proper setting on the Jig.
Drill Jig comprise a Allen screw 9 (std) & washer 10 (std) to clamped the
30 cover plate 2 with Jig plate 1 to clamped the metal plate on surface ‘A’ of the Jig
plate 1.

Accordingly, the description of the present invention is to be considered as illustrative only and is for the purpose of teaching those skilled in the art of the best mode of carrying out the invention. The details may be varied substantially without departing from the spirit of the invention, and exclusive use of all modifications which are within the scope of the appended claims is reserved. We Claim:

1. A Jig for holding a metal plate for drilling operation and provide guiding mechanism to accurate positioning of drill tool and supporting the metal plate to be positioned in the Jig. The Jig comprising:
- Jig Plate adapted to be coupled to the Drilling machine and provides support to the metal plate and other sub component of Jig. Metal plate rest and positioned on the bottom surface of Jig plate.
- Four legs are rigidly coupled to the bottom surface of the bottom surface of the Jig plate through interference fitting.
- Location Pin that guides the metal plate to remain in pre determined position with respect to Jig and combination with Diamond pin provided to prevent the X, Y direction movement and accurate alignment with respect to the reference surface.
- Cover plate to mount the metal plate into the Jig and hold it rigidly in position.
- Allen screw couple the cover plate with the Jig plate for holding the metal plate in between to avoid over the any deflection of the metal plate during drilling operations and maintain dimensional accuracy.
2. The Jig for holding the metal plate of claim 2 wherein, top and bottom surfaces of the Jig plate are substantially parallel.
3. The Jig for holding the metal plate of claim 2 wherein, bottom surface of the Jig plate is mounted with four legs to positioned on the drilling machine bed.
4. The Jig for holding metal plate of claim 2 wherein, the Jig plate is provide with Diamond pin and location pin for accurate positioning of the metal plate during the drilling operation.
5. The Jig comprises of a cover plate fitted with two Allen screw for coupling with the Jig plate, holding the metal plate. ,TagSPECI:As per Annexure-II
