State of Art
In any known type of variator engines for two wheelers, the drive for oil or liquid coolant pump is taken from any side of the crankshaft through worm and worm wheel or through a spur gearing. In such arrangement the overhang of the crankshaft increases due to increase in the length of the crankshaft. In order to improve the rigidity of such system with large overhand, the diameter of the crankshaft needs to be increased thereby supporting on bigger journal bearings. Further the space requirements to mount the pump on either the left or right side of the engine crankcase is also increased. Consequent to these the weight and material cost of the components increases.

Detailed description of an Embodiment of Invention
Figure 1 shows a scooter type motorcycle engine with a variator type automatic transmission of the present invention. As shown in Figure 1 the power unit P comprises a two stroke engine E and a belt type infinitely variable transmission 1 coupled to the left side surface of the engine E. The crankcase 2, cylinder block 3 coupled at the front surface of crankcase 2 and arranged in a substantially horizontal manner, and cylinder head 4 joined to upper surface of the cylinder block 3 constitute the engine E. A crankshaft 5 housed in and supported by crankcase 2 is connected to a piston 6 moving up and down within a cylinder bore of cylinder block 3a via connecting rod 7.
The crankcase 2 comprises of two halves crankcase left 2 a and crankcase right 2b. Left crank journals of crankshaft 5a & 5b are then sandwiched between the crankcase halves 2a & 2b^via ball bearings 8. A drive pulley 9 of the infinitely variable transmission 1 is attached to a journal outer shaft section extending outwards from the left crank journal 5a and transmission case 10 is bolted to the left end of crankcase 5a.
The drive pulley 9 is tightened with a ratchet nut 11 on the left crankshaft 5a end Two lugs integrally forged inside a cavity of the ratchet nut 10 drive a lug 12, which is welded to the pump shaft 13. The pump shaft 13 is supported on two bearings 14 housed in the insert 15, which is encast with the transmission cover 10. To the other end of pump shaft 13, a worm 16 is mounted on splines provided on the shaft 13, which is retained by a circlip 17. An oil pump or coolant pump 18 is attached to worm wheel 19.
On the outer diameter of the insert a freely rotating gear kick starter driven 20 is housed. The gear kick-starter driven 20 is driven by drive gear 21 through idler gear 22 supported on an idler shaft 23 encast to the transmission cover 10.
The invention has been explained in relation to specific embodiment. It is inferred that the foregoing description is only illustrative of the present invention and it is not intended that the invention be limited or restrictive thereto. Many other specific embodiments of the present invention will be apparent to one skilled in the art from the foregoing disclosure. All substitution, alterations and modification of the present invention which come within the scope
