DRIVE SYSTEM IN THE DRIVE BENCH FOR MANUFACTURING OF SEAMLESS TUBES

TECHNICAL FIELD 5

[0001] The present disclosure relates, in general, to a method of forward and reverse mechanism used in the manufacturing of seamless steel tube in particular to a drive system in the drive bench for manufacturing/drawing of seamless tubes.
BACKGROUND 10
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present subject matter. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed subject matter, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art. 15
[0003] During the manufacturing of the seamless steel tube pipe draw bench is used for forwarding and reversing of the tubes. The existing draw bench uses hydraulic system for forwarding and reversing the tubes with controlled outside diameter and thickness to the carriage block. This forward and reverse mechanism for manufacturing seamless tubes operating through hydraulic system possesses 20 drawbacks like oil leakage, spears, wear and tear etc. which require regular maintenance. Due to these regular maintenances the rate of production gets very slow and production cost rises.
[0004] Therefore, in order to increase the productivity a new drive system is to be designed without using hydraulic system to draw/manufacture seamless steel 25 tubes.
OBJECTS OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0005] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfy, are listed hereinbelow.
3
[0006] An object of the present disclosure is to provide a drive system in the drive bench for forward and reverse mechanism of seamless tubes without using hydraulic system.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0007] This summary is provided to introduce concepts related to a method 5 for protecting various hydro-turbine underwater components from acidic water corrosion. The concepts are further described below in the detailed description. This summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter. 10
[0008] The present disclosure relates to a drive system in the drive bench for forward and reverse mechanism of seamless tubes without using hydraulic system. The system includes a main drive reversible motor connected with a reduction gear box unit by a coupling; a pair of sprockets connected to the output of the reduction gear box unit by a full gear coupling, said pair of sprockets are 15 meshed with a chain, wherein the pair of sprockets are supported with a heavy duty support brackets and said heavy duty support brackets are welded on a base plate, and wherein the pair of sprockets are rotated by bearings; and a pair of idler gears meshed with the bottom of said chain, said idler gears are rotated by bearings; wherein the main drive reversible motor performs forward and reverse 20 drawing of seamless tubes with the reduction gear box.
[0009] In an aspect, a gear box unit having gear ratio of 40:1 is connected to a main drive reversible motor of 315 kw capacity with 1000 rpm running by means of flange coupling. The motor can be used for forward and reverse rotation and the speed can be adjusted in the simple reduction gear box unit. 25
[0010] In an aspect, the gear box shaft is assembled with common output connected to main sprockets. The main sprockets are meshed with a chain with draw / return carriage. To maintain a gap of 800 mm between the chain the idler gears are used. 710 mm is the distance between the gears said above.

As used herein, the singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises”, “comprising”, “includes” and/or 30 “including,” when used herein, specify the presence of stated features, integers,
5
steps, operations, elements and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, components and/or groups thereof.
[0017] It should also be noted that in some alternative implementations, the functions/acts noted may occur out of the order noted in the figures. For example, 5 two figures shown in succession may, in fact, be executed concurrently or may sometimes be executed in the reverse order, depending upon the functionality/acts involved.
[0018] Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical and scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of 10 ordinary skill in the art to which example embodiments belong. [0019] During the manufacturing of the seamless steel tube pipe draw bench is used for forwarding and reversing of the tubes. Due to these regular maintenance the rate of production gets very slow and production cost rises.
[0020] Therefore, in order to increase the productivity a new drive system is to be designed without using hydraulic system to draw/manufacture seamless steel 25 tubes. Referring to FIG.1 and FIG.2, a drive system in the drive bench for manufacturing of seamless tubes is provided. The system includes a main drive reversible motor (1) connected with a reduction gear box unit (3) by a coupling (2). The output of the gear box unit (3) is connected to a pair of sprockets (5) by a full gear coupling (4). The pair of sprockets (5) are meshed with a chain (9) and 30 are supported with a heavy duty support brackets (10). The heavy duty support
6
brackets (10) are welded on a base plate (11). The pair of sprockets (5) are rotated by bearings (6). The bottom of said chain (9) is meshed with a pair of idler gears (7) and said idler gears (7) are rotated by bearings (12). The main drive reversible motor (1) performs forward and reverse drawing of seamless tubes with the reduction gear box (3). 5
[0021] Because of the less maintenance in the reduction gear box, the movement of the carriage (not shown) on the chain for tube drawing is uninterrupted and hence the productivity is substantially increased.
