Specification

The present disclosure relates generally to the field of personal care products. More specifically, the disclosure is directed to an antimicrobial cleansing composition comprising naturally derived ingredients that are non-toxic and ecologically safe for use.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art. [0003] Cleansing compositions have become a global phenomenon and have developed into larger market, especially after the surge of COVID-19 pandemic. These cleansing compositions rely on thousands of different synthetic chemicals employed in personal care products purported for use on human skin. Most of these chemicals are actually found to cause adverse health risks but are still being used. [0004] Nowadays, taking note of the importance of natural ingredients in almost all the products to avoid harmful side-effects, many producers / manufacturers have started using natural ingredients along with the synthetic chemicals. However, all-natural cleansing compositions with adequate consumer performance with a limited number of raw materials is a daunting task. Further, the raw material availability is scarce when compared with the synthetic ingredients.
[0005] Additionally, the drawbacks currently associated with the naturally-derived antimicrobial cleansing formulations include costly, requirement of high concentrations for antimicrobial property, undesirable colors and odors, poor stability, and are not effective against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. [0006] Further, prior art cleansing compositions do not combine effective moisturizing and cleansing properties using only naturally-derived, naturally-processed, safe, biodegradable ingredients.

[0007] Hence, there is an imminent need for economical and non-toxic eco-friendly
cleansing compositions which are effective against a broad spectrum of
microorganisms.
[0008] The present disclosure overcomes the deficiencies of the art by providing a
non-toxic eco-friendly cleansing compositions which are effective against a broad
spectrum of microorganisms.

A solution made from the soap (Example 1) was weakly inoculated 4 times with
105 cfu/g and strongly inoculated once with 107-108 cfu/g of a bacterial and a
fungal composite. The bar soap was evaluated several times for microbial counts at
various days intervals after the first, the second and the fifth inoculation. The

The soap-bar composition as prepared in the Example 1 is made into 25 g pockets
each and anonymously handed over to 5 male and 5 female subjects to test the
adverse effects or skin irritancy of the composition. Each of the subjects were

instructed to use the soaps to the back of subjects' hands continuously for 10 days. The subjects were observed for lesions, redness and irritation. None of the subjects reported of adverse effects or irritation while using or after using the composition.
