, Description:Field of invention

The present invention relates to ECU (Electronic Control Unit) mounting bracket, and more particularly, the present invention relates to the ECU mounting bracket with wheel house assembly for different kind of ECU mounting in different vehicle variants like CNG, Diesel, and for fuse box mounting.

Background of the invention

Generally, ECU (Electronic Control Unit) mounting brackets are inside cabin of a vehicle and include lot of loose parts and hardware. Specifically, a separate bracket is used for mounting different type of ECU in different vehicle models. Hence, there is increase in number of variants of the ECU mounting brackets.

Specifically, the US Patent 8020830 discloses mounting assemblies for securing electronic control unit and vehicles including same. The mounting assembly includes a bracket which can be attached to the vehicle's frame.

Another US Patent discloses 8437134 a housing structure for vehicle electronic control unit. The housing structure includes an ECU case, a mounting bracket, and a seal ring. The ECU case is for housing a vehicle ECU and includes a ventilation opening.

However, the ECU mounting brackets of the prior art are made vehicle specific and cannot be used if needs to be used another type of vehicle. Further, separate brackets have to be used for fuse box mounting in the vehicle cabin.

Accordingly, there exists a need to provide an ECU mounting bracket assembly which overcomes above-mentioned drawbacks.

Objects of the present invention

An object of the present is to provide ECU mounting bracket which is integrated with wheel house/body structure to avoid unwanted contact and loosening of wires.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a common bracket for different ECU variants and to accommodate the fuse box in the same bracket.

Summary of the invention

Accordingly, the present invention provides an ECU mounting bracket assembly. The ECU mounting bracket assembly comprises a panel wheel house having top portion and bottom portion. The ECU mounting bracket assembly further comprises an ECU mounting bracket secured to the panel wheel house. The ECU mounting bracket includes a top portion and three legs extending downwards from the three sides of the top portion. The ECU mounting bracket further comprises a first set of holes adapted for mounting ECU of a diesel vehicle, and a second set of holes adapted for mounting ECU of a CNG vehicle. Specifically, one hole of the first set of holes and the second set of holes is common for mounting the ECU of the diesel vehicle and the ECU of the CNG vehicle.

The ECU mounting bracket assembly furthermore comprises at least one hole adapted for mounting a fuse box, at least one slot configured on one leg of the three legs sides for wiring harness, and at least one slot for PLP and at least one hole for PLP.

Wherein for mounting any one of the ECU of the diesel vehicle and the ECU of the CNG vehicle on the ECU mounting bracket, the common hole of the first set of holes and the second set of holes is selected first, which then allows easy locating of remaining holes for mounting the respective ECU thereby eliminating chances of wrong fitment.
