3. PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed : -
ELECTRICAL SWITCH FIELD OF THE INVENTION :
The present invention in general relates to a compact electrical switch and in particular to a compact electrical switch which is screwless and is easy to install and dislodge, requiring substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations. The present invention in particular, also relates to a method of manufacturing such a compact electrical switch.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION :
It is traditionally known that electrical switches need to be screwed in and out for replacing and fitting operations. It is also known that such conventional switches are screwed from the back to the base plate and this requires substantial time to open the base plate and unscrew the switches from the back plate for any replacement or fitting operation.
Research is on in this state of the art to design switches which can be removed and installed easily without consumption of substantial time, as under the current scenario, technology has intensified to a great extent , cropping up the need for application for such electrical switches in plenty. However, over the years, significant improvement in that view of the matter is yet to be achieved.
Accordingly there was a long felt need to design electrical switches which are adapted to be removed and installed easily without consumption of substantial time.
The present invention meets the aforesaid long felt need.
All through out the specification including the claims, the words "base plate", "screwing means " "switching knob", "slot", "box type", "grooves", "projecting means" are to be interpreted in the broadest sense of the respective terms and include all similar items in the field known by other terms, as may be clear to persons skilled in the art. Restriction/limitation, if any, referred to in the specification, is solely by way of example and understanding the present invention.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION :
It is the principal object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch which is screwless and is easy to install and dislodge.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch which requires substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch the individual components of which are replaceable.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a compact electrical switch the manufacturing cost whereof is substantially less.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a method of manufacturing a compact electrical switch which is screwless and is easy to install and dislodge.
How the foregoing objects are achieved and the other aspects of the present invention, will be clear from the following description which is purely by way of understanding and not by way of any sort of limitation.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION :
Accordingly, the present invention provides a compact electrical switch including a box type construction and a switching knob detachably attachable to said box type construction, wherein said box type construction is open at top and said switching knob is provided with slot for its removal and installation from front without the need for any screwing means.
In accordance with preferred embodiments of the compact electrical switch of the present invention:
-said switching knob is adapted to be fixed to or removed from said box type construction along a base plate by virtue of groove and projecting means in a push fit manner.
The present invention also provides a method of fabricating a compact electrical switch including moulding a box type construction and designing a switching knob such that it has a slot and detachably attaching said box type construction to said switching knob enabling its removal and installation from front.
In accordance with preferred embodiments of the method of the present invention:
-said switching knob is fixed to or removed from said box type construction along a base plate by virtue of a groove and projecting means in a push fit manner.
-said switch is made up of polycarbonate material.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS :
The nature and scope of the present invention, will be better understood from the accompanying drawings, which are by way of illustration of some preferred embodiments and not by way of any sort of limitation. In the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1(a) illustrates a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the compact electrical switch according to the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION :
The following describes some preferred embodiments of the present invention, which are purely for the sake of understanding the performance of the invention, and not by way of any sort of limitation.
The principal motive of the present invention is to provide a compact electrical switch which does not require screw for fixing. These switches are made of polycarbonate material and are easy to install and dislodge. This, in turn ensures requirement for substantially less time in replacement and fitting operations.
The accompanying figure 1(a) illustrates a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the compact electrical switch according to the present invention. The accompanying figure 1(b) illustrates the elevation according to a preferred embodiment, while the accompanying figure 1( c) illustrates a bottom view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
As it will be clear from the accompanying figures 2(a) and 2(b) the compact electrical switch according to the present invention, comprises a box type construction open at the top. There is a switching knob which is fixed from the front along a base plate by means of a groove and projecting means in a push fit manner. The switching knob is provided with a slot(l) as illustrated in the accompanying figure 1(b), so that it can be removed and installed very easily by manual means such as a tip of a screw driver. Thus, the switching knob adapted to be fixed to or removed from the box type construction along a base plate by virtue of groove and projecting means in a push fit manner. Hence, the electrical switch in accordance with the present invention in totality is fitted to the base plate from the front without disturbing the base plate, thereby making the operation of installment and replacement easy and less time consuming.
As illustrated in the accompanying figure 2(a) in particular, the switching knob has an outer portion(2) and the electrical switch has an outer bottom(3).
By virtue of the above design the switch, according to the present invention can be easily removed and installed without the requirement for substantially large amount of time unlike the conventional screws. Further, unlike the switches known in the art, the switch according to the present invention is so designed, so that it is devoid of any sort of screwing means. It is detachably attached by push fit arrangement. Additionally, the individual components of the switch are replaceable.
The method of fabricating a compact electrical switch according to the present invention first of all includes moulding a box type construction and designing a switching knob such that it has a slot. Thereafter, the switching knob is detachably attached to the box type construction, enabling its removal and installation from front. Preferably, the switching knob is fixed to or removed from the box type construction along a base plate, by virtue of a groove and projecting means in a push fit manner. Due to the simple construction of the electrical switch according to the present invention, the manufacturing and maintenance cost of such switch is also substantially low, facilitating its availability to end users at reasonably low cost.
The present invention has been described with reference to some drawings and preferred embodiments, purely for the sake of understanding and not by way of any limitation and the present invention includes all legitimate developments within the scope of what has been described hereinbefore and claimed in the appended claims.
WE CLAIM :
1. A compact electrical switch including a box type construction and a switching knob detachably attachable to said box type construction, wherein said box type construction is open at top and said switching knob is provided with slot for its removal and installation from front without the need for any screwing means.
2. The compact electrical switch as claimed in claim 1 wherein said switching knob is adapted to be fixed to or removed from said box type construction along a base plate by virtue of groove and projecting means in a push fit manner.
3. The compact electrical switch substantially as herein described particularly with reference to the accompanying drawings.
4. A method of fabricating a compact electrical switch including moulding a box type construction and designing a switching knob such that it has a slot and detachably attaching said box type construction to said switching knob enabling its removal and installation from front.
5. The method of fabricating a compact electrical switch as claimed in claim 4 wherein said switching knob is fixed to or removed from said box type construction along a base plate by virtue of a groove and projecting means in a push fit manner.
6. The method as claimed in claims 4 to 5 wherein said switch is made up of
polycarbonate material.
