Electronic Controller For A Hybrid Vehicle
Abstract: ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER FOR A HYBRID VEHICLE This invention is an electronic controller which can reduce overall fuel consumption for a hybrid vehicle during a real-life driving situation. The controller in the system uses information from vehicle navigation 5 system and is integrated with the driver module 18 to calculate future vehicle speed information for a limited time window, and its length is influenced by the route traffic situation and the available computational power of the microcontroller. The required future wheel torque information 12 is fed to real-time optimal control 10 algorithm which calculates the torque split between the spark-ignition (SI) engine and the electric machine based on Equivalent consumption minimization strategy (ECMS). The torque split for the time window is pre-calculated using the abovementioned approach. A module level controller controls the individual components of the powertrain based on the torque split information provided as 15 above. FIGURE 2
