Abstract: The present invention is related to a portable electronic device (1) in an Ultrasonic Solid Propellant Burning Rate Measurement (USBRM) System (100) coupled with an ultrasonic transducer-propellant system (200). The device (1) works on the principle of ultrasonic technique by measuring repeatedly the thickness of a cylindrical propellant (6) specimen burning in a combustion chamber. Comparing to the existing conventional burning rate measurement systems using ballistic evaluation motors (BEM), said novel device (1) comprises a first signal processing unit (AM) having ultrasonic channel (4a) coupled to the ultrasonic transducer (4) and a pressure channel (5a) coupled to a pressure channel; a second signal processing unit (DM) interfaced with the first one (AM) via microcontroller and with a processor (3) via Ethernet interface. The device (1) provides burn rate measurement of the propellant (6) and pressure measurement in the combustion chamber engaging the propellant (6) with the measurement accuracy of the system by keeping the error within the required limit of less than 1% while predicting the performance of rocket motors using in space/strategic applications.
