a hybrid backhoe loader; wherein the said engine and driveline assembly
receives power from two sources: from the fuel burning engine and/or
electric power generated/stored in the said Backhoe Loader. Said engine
and driveline assembly is so constructed that it is capable of generating
power either from fluid fuel or from battery based electricity or from both.
This new system has advantage of working into various modes as per the
specific requirement and demand as follows:
• Engine Only Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Hydraulic Operations
• Motor/Battery Only Mode: Hydraulic Operations [In machine
stationary condition]
• Charging Mode: Battery Charging
BACKGROUND AND PRIOR ARTS:
At present age it is important to redesign conventional construction
machines like Backhoe Loader, which is capable of consuming least

possible fuel, without comprising its functionality and abilities to perform
its regular works.
Though there are hybrid vehicles having more than one kind of power
sources, such innovations in the field of constructing complex construction
machines like Backhoe loader is not a common practice yet. Therefore,
towards making more environment friendly construction machine like
hybrid Backhoe Loader, more research and development is required to
produce such a driveline assembly, which effectively support the driving
function as well as hydraulic operations of the backhoe loader.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
Prime object of the instant invention is to provide a engine and driveline
assembly used in a hybrid backhoe loader; wherein the said engine and
driveline assembly receives power from two sources: from the fuel burning
engine and/or electric power generated/stored in the said Backhoe Loader.
Another object of the invention is to provide such engine and driveline
assembly to be used in a hybrid backhoe loader, which is capable of
generating and transmitting such effective power, either from fluid fuel or
from battery based electricity or from both, which effectively support the
driving function as well as hydraulic operations of the backhoe loader.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a hybrid enginedriveline assembly in a backhoe loader, wherein the engine is being

downsized to ~50HP and power is boosted in the range of 75 to 80HP by
Hybrid system. It includes Electric motor, Battery and power electronic
systems.
Another object of the present invention is to provide such a engine and
driveline assembly used in a hybrid backhoe loader; wherein said new
hybrid driveline system have advantage of working into various modes as
per the specific requirement and demand as follows:
• Engine Only Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Hydraulic Operations
• Motor/Battery Only Mode: Hydraulic Operations [In machine
stationary condition]
• Charging Mode: Battery Charging
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:
Conventional Design: Conventional BHL machine equipped with 76hp
Diesel engine coupled with transmission followed by a gear pump.
New Concept Hybrid Design:
The invention generally relates to the engine and driveline assembly used in
a hybrid backhoe loader; wherein the said engine and driveline assembly
receives power from two sources: from the fuel burning engine and/or
electric power generated/stored in the said Backhoe Loader. Said engine

and driveline assembly is so constructed that it is capable of generating
power either from fluid fuel or from battery based electricity or from both.
Said backhoe loader is provided with a novel engine assembly which has
been downsized to ~50HP and its power is boosted in the range of 75 to
80HP by Hybrid system, that is involving the electric power source. Apart
from the newly designed fuel consuming engine assembly, said hybrid
engine and driveline assembly includes Electric motor, Battery and power
electronic systems. This new system has advantage of working into various
modes as per the specific requirement and demand as follows:
• Engine Only Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Hydraulic Operations
• Motor/Battery Only Mode: Hydraulic Operations [In machine
stationary condition]
• Charging Mode: Battery Charging.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The inventive concept associated with the instant invention is indicated
with the help of following illustrative schematic drawings, wherein it is
mentioned that none of the drawings herein below should be considered as
limiting the overall inventive concept disclosed herein, particularly into the

inventiveness involved with the said drawings or its schematic application
plan, indicated therein.

Present disclosure is particularly related to an engine and driveline
assembly, to be used in a hybrid backhoe loader; wherein said engine and
driveline assembly comprises hybrid driveline, engine, clutch, pump, motor,
chargeable battery and power electronic systems for controlling said hybrid
driveline. Said new hybrid driveline system of the hybrid backhoe loader is
characterized in selection and operation into at least one of the various
modes as per the specific requirement and demand as follows:
• Engine Only Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Hydraulic Operations
• Motor/Battery Only Mode: Hydraulic Operations [In machine
stationary condition]
• Charging Mode: Battery Charging.
Said engine and driveline assembly receives power from two sources: from

Backhoe Loader.

Although the invention has been described with reference to specific
embodiments, this description is not meant to be construed in a limiting
sense. Various modifications of the disclosed embodiments, as well as
alternate embodiments of the invention, will become apparent to persons
skilled in the art upon reference to the description of the invention. It is
therefore contemplated that such modifications can be made without
departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention as defined.
We Claim:
1. An engine and driveline assembly to be used in a hybrid backhoe
loader; wherein said engine and driveline assembly comprises hybrid
driveline, engine, clutch, pump, motor, chargeable battery and power
electronic systems for controlling said hybrid driveline; wherein said
new hybrid driveline system, as schematically depicted in figure 1, is
characterized in selection and operation into at least one of the
various modes as per the specific requirement and demand as
follows:
• Engine Only Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Driving
• Engine + Motor/Battery Mode: Hydraulic Operations
• Motor/Battery Only Mode: Hydraulic Operations [In machine
stationary condition]
• Charging Mode: Battery Charging.

receives power from two sources: from the fuel burning engine
and/or electric power generated/stored in the said Backhoe Loader.

driving function as well as hydraulic operations of the backhoe

as claimed in claim 1, wherein the engine is being downsized to
~50HP and power is boosted in the range of 75 to 80HP by Hybrid
system, wherein it includes Electric motor, Battery and power
electronic systems thereof.
5. An engine and driveline assembly used in a hybrid backhoe loader;
as claimed in any of the preceding claims, wherein said engine and
driveline assembly used in a hybrid backhoe loader is capable of
functioning by optional selection of engine only mode, towards
driving, depicted as under:
