Enhancing Conductivity Of Polymers And Materials By Vibrational Strong Coupling

Abstract: ABSTRACT ENHANCING CONDUCTIVITY OF A MATERIAL BY QUANTUM LIGHT- VIBRATIONAL STRONG COUPLING Examples for enhancing conductivity of a material supporting vibronic coupling are described. In one example, a method is implemented using an optical cavity. The method comprises coating the material on at least one of a first reflecting surface and a second reflecting surface, and placing the first reflecting surface and the second reflecting surface at an initial distance from each other for obtaining an optical cavity. The method further comprises forming a closed electrical circuit between the first reflecting surface and the second reflecting surface using an electrical probe, and varying the initial distance between the first reflecting surface and the second reflecting surface. As may be understood, by varying the initial distance, a resonance is activated when a vibrational mode of the material matches with the pathlength of the optical cavity.
