Epileptic Seizure Classification

Abstract: ABSTRACT EPILEPTIC SEIZURE DETECTION AND CLASSIFICATION Approaches for extracting EEG patterns for detecting presence or type of seizure 5 based on spatial-temporal analysis of EEG. In one example, EEG data of a suspected human being is obtained using EEG testing setup. In an example, the EEG data includes a plurality of waveforms of electric signals, with each waveform corresponds to an electrode channel of the EEG testing setup. Once received, the EEG data is pre- processed to remove unnecessary data. Thereafter, IED feature data corresponding 10 to each electrode channel from the EEG data is extracted. Once the IED feature data is extracted, a cumulative sharp count (CSC) indicating the total number of sharps present in the IED feature data across each electrode channel is computed based on the IED feature data. Thereafter, based on the comparison of CSC with a threshold value, the suspected patient is classified as one of a normal subject and an epileptic 15 subject.
