Evaporation Based Detection Of Adulterant In Milk

Abstract: ABSTRACT EVAPORATION-BASED DETECTION OF ADULTERANT IN MILK Method and system for the determination of adulterants in milk are described. The method involves depositing a droplet of milk from a milk sample on a glass slide maintained at a predefined temperature below the boiling point of milk. The droplet of milk is allowed to evaporate. The evaporation deposition pattern and/or the crystallization pattern formed on the glass slide after the predefined time is detected. The level of adulteration of the milk sample is then ascertained based on the detected patterns. The detection module is trained based on a training feature of the evaporation deposition pattern and the crystallization deposition pattern correlated with reference data, wherein the reference data includes information pertaining to the nature and quantity of the adulterant within a specified volume of milk.
