Extension Assembly for Fuse Puller Device
Field of the invention
The present invention relates to fuse puller devices, and more particularly, to extension assembly for fuse puller device.
Background of the invention
Fuse pullers are devices which are used to extract a fuse link from fuse holders. However, once the fuse links are in operation, it gets very difficult to remove the fuse links from the fuse holders and requires a good amount of force and precision.
Currently available fuse pulling devices pulls the fuses from the fuse tags which are present on the end plates. This is done with the help of a fuse pulling handle, which is push button actuated. Conventionally, the fuse pulling handle has lever oriented mechanism by which it locks the fuse tags. These can be unlocked by pushing the button and releasing the lever.
However, the fuse pulling handle of the prior art poses difficulty in operating in confined spaces. Further, the fuse pulling handles are very sensitive to on-field manhandling pertaining to size of the fuselinks and causes frequent loss of functionality.
Accordingly, there exists a need to provide aextension assembly for the fuse puller devices which overcomes abovementioned drawbacks.
Object of the invention

An object of the present invention is to provide pulling of the fuse in confined spaces.
Another object of the present invention is to increase safety to the user while removing of a fuse link from a fuse base.
Summary of the invention
Disclosed is an extension assembly for a fuse puller device. The assembly comprises a body member havingat least two fuse puller tags extending therefrom. The least two fuse puller tagsare capable of removably engaging with the fuse puller device. The extension assembly further includes a guide plate confined within the body member. The guide plate includes at least two slots for the at least two fuse puller tags to pass therethrough. Furthermore, the extension assembly includes a support member having a compression spring guided thereon. The support member is assembled on the guide plate. Also, the extension assembly includes a lock plate supported by the compression spring along the guide plate inside the body member.
Wherein upon engaging the at least two fuse puller tags with the fuse puller device, the fuse link is made to slide so that the at least two fuse puller tags moves from left to right direction thereby getting locked from bottom by the guide plate and from top by the compression spring loaded lock plate, which allows to mount the fuse link on the fuse.

Detailed description of the invention
The foregoing objects of the present invention are accomplished and the problems and shortcomings associated with the prior art, techniques and approaches are overcome by the present invention as described below in the preferred embodiment.
The present invention provides an extension assembly for a fuse puller device. The extension assembly allows pulling of a fuse in confined spaces. Further, the extension assembly brings safety to user by adding extra separation between live parts.

Referring to figure 1-4, there is shown an extension assembly (100) for fuse puller device. The fuse puller device is being capable of securing to a fuse link (not shown]. The extension assembly (100) includes a body member (10), two fuse puller tags (20), a guide plate (30), a support member (40), a compression spring (50) and a lock plate (60).
The body member (10) is rectangular box like structure. The body member (10) includes two fuse puller tags (20) extending therefrom. In an embodiment, the body member (10) and the two fuse puller tags (20) are formed as a single unit. The two fuse puller tags (20) are capable of removably engaging with theend plates (110) of fuse puller device. In an embodiment, the fuse puller tags (20) engage with the end plates (110) of fuse puller device and assures the locking of the extension assembly (100) identical to locking of the end plates (110) of the fuse puller device to the fuselink. The body member (10) includes the guide plate (30) confined therewithin.
Specifically, the guide plate (30) is confined within front portion of the rectangular body member (10). Specifically, the guide plate (30) is fixed within a front opening of therectangular body member (10). In an embodiment, the guide plate (30) is secured to the body member (10) by fastening means such as nut and bolts.
The guide plate (30) includes at least two slots (32, 34) configured thereon for the at least two fuse puller tags (20) to pass therethrough. The slots (32, 34) allow left and right movement of the fuse puller tags (20) therein when the fuse puller tags (20) move manually. The guide plate (30) includes a support member (40) secured thereto.

The support member [40] is secured to a second slot (36) provided on inner surface of the guide plate (30). The support member (40) includes a compression spring (50) guided thereon. The compression spring (50) supports the lock plate (60) against the guide plate (30) inside the body member (10).
During assembly of the extension assembly (100) on the fuse puller device, the fuse puller tags (20) are locked into the end plates (110) existing fuse puller device. Prior to the installation of the fuse link as shown in figure 2 on either a switch-fuse unit or a fuse base, the fuse link is made to slide into the guide plate (30). As the fuse puller tags (20) move from left to right, vertical movement of the fuse puller tags (20) is restricted from bottom by the guide plate(30) and from the top due to pressure applied by the compression spring (50) loaded lock plate (60). Specifically, figure 1 and 2 shows uninstalled position of the extension assembly (100) and figure la shows the guide plate (30), when the extension assembly (100) is in uninstalled position. After this the fuse link can be mounted.
Now, after installation of the fuse link onto the fuse, the fuse puller device can be taken out by just sliding in the reverse direction which makes movements of the fuse puller tags (20) from right to left.
Similarly, while removal of the fuse link from the fuse base, the fuse puller tagsslide into the guide plate (30) and are locked by the pressures acting from the top by body member (10) by virtue of design andfrom the bottom by tfie compression spring (50) loaded lock plate (60). After the fuse link is engaged, the fuse puller device can be pulled out and subsequently fuse link can be removed. Specifically, figures 3 and 4 show installed position of the extension

assembly (100), and figure 3a shows the guide plate (30], when the extension assembly (100) is in installed position
Advantages of the invention
1. The extension assembly (100) can be used in confined spaces.
2. The extension assembly (100) brings safety to the user by increasing the separation from live parts, thus an additional safety margin to electrical hazards like shocks is build.
3. The extension assembly (100) avoids frequent loss of functionality as compared to the fuse puller device of the prior art.
The foregoing object the invention is accomplished and the problems and
shortcomings associated with prior art techniques and approaches are
overcome by the present invention described in the present embodiment.
Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein;
however, it is to be understood that the present invention may be embodied in
various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be
interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a
representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present
i invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure, or matter.
The embodiments of the invention as described above and the methods
disclosed herein will suggest further modification and alterations to those
skilled in the art. Such further modifications and alterations may be made
without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
