Specification

TECHNICAL FIELD

Present invention relates to facial masks  notably to masks with dual function especially for men.

BACKGROUND

Facial masks are well known cosmetic products which are made by combination of a cosmetic formulation with a substrate. The substrate can be a fiber based textile  nonwoven  or can be a chemically made sheet. These masks are positioned for cosmetic functions such as hydration  whitening  cleansing etc.
US 2005/0074484 describes a facial mask product having a first water insoluble substrate including a first active agent and a second water insoluble substrate including a second active agent. First and second substrates are of different shapes and address different needs of facial regions. First and second substrates are dissociated.
US 2009/0280150 describes a system comprising a image analysis of a treatment zone of the user’s skin and a printing device for printing one or more cosmetic delivery sheets for conforming to the treatment area of the user’s skin. The various cosmetic sheets are dissociated from each other.
US 2011/0132387 describes a porous dissolvable solid substrate including shave preparation. US 2006/0292107 describes dehydrated shaving strips to be dipped in water to form a viscous lather for application to body parts. US 2012/0021022 describes a foamable shaving substrate that includes a dry substrate associated with dry shaving material.

SUMMARY

There is a need for masks specifically for men having cosmetic and shave preparation functionalities.
In one aspect  the invention relates to a mask with dual functions specifically for the men. The present innovation deals with a mask which provides dual functions of cosmetic and preparation of the skin for the shaving.
More specifically  the invention relates to a facial mask comprising an upper part and a lower part united to the upper part before use  wherein the upper part includes a substrate with cosmetic preparation and the lower part includes a substrate with shaving preparation.
According to another aspect of the invention  the facial mask may further comprises a separation line to separate the upper part from the lower part for use or in use. The separation line can be a dotted line or a thinness or any other weakness included in the mask to help the user separate the upper part from the lower part  either just before application of the mask over the face or while application of the mask.
According to an embodiment  the lower part may further include a cosmetic preparation. Such cosmetic preparation can come as a complement to the shaving preparation included on the lower part of the mask.
According to another aspect of the invention  at least one of the upper part or the lower part may comprise at least two sub-parts  each sub-part including a different preparation. Different needs of different portions of the face can thus be addressed specifically.
According to another aspect of the invention  the facial mask may further comprise markings to help positioning the mask over a user’s face. The cosmetic and shaving preparations can thus be delivered properly to the appropriate portions of the user’s face.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent upon reading the following description and with reference with the appended figure 1 which shows a scheme of a dual function mask according to an embodiment of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The dual function mask 10 illustrated in Figure 1 has two parts: an upper part 11 and a lower part 12 which are united before use. The lower and upper parts can be separated by a dotted tearing line 13 that can be torn by the user before application of the mask over the face or after application of at least one part of the mask over a portion of the face. Alternatively  both parts 11  12 may remain united during use.
The mask of the invention could have more than two parts; each or at least one of the upper part or lower part may be divided into at least two sub-parts.
The upper part 11 of the mask consists of a substrate including a cosmetic preparation such as hydrating  moisturizing  whitening etc… This upper part 11 is intended to be placed over the upper portion of the face  i.e. around the eyes and/or over the forehead and/or over the cheeks of the user. The upper part 11 of the mask may thus include openings 15 for the eyes lids. The upper part 11 of the mask may comprise two or more sub-parts wherein each sub-part includes a different cosmetic formulation for appropriate action to a portion of the face  i.e. different hydrating  whitening  toning  lightning  coloring or cleansing properties may be applied over the forehead or around the eyes.
The lower part 12 of the mask consists of a substrate including a shaving preparation  as for instance a substance having the capability to assist shaving in order to prepare the skin for shaving with the razor. This lower part 12 is intended to be placed over the lower portion of the face  i.e. over the chin and/or over a portion of the neck and/or over a portion of the cheeks. The lower part 12 of the mask may thus include an opening 14 for the mouth. The lower part 12 of the mask may comprise two or more sub-parts wherein each sub-part includes a different preparation for appropriate action to a portion of the face  i.e. different hydrating properties may be needed when shaving the chin or the cheeks. For instance  the lower part 12 may further includes  at least over a sub-part  a cosmetic preparation in addition to the shaving preparation.
The substrate of each part 11  12 of the mask 10 can be textile  nonwoven  gel-sheets  or a water soluble porous dissolvable substrate  or other. The choice of the substrate depends upon the method and state of cosmetic and shaving actives on the substrate. Non soluble substrates can be used if these substances are applied by impregnation  while water soluble substrate can be used when substances are applied by surface coating of the substrate and are applied on the face after impregnation in water. Using water soluble substrate for both upper and lower part of the mask is more convenient and attractive to a consumer because of the disappearance of the substrates during use.
If the upper part 11 and/or the lower part 12 of the mask include two or more sub-parts  dotted tearing lines can be added for the user to separate the different the sub-parts just before or during application of the mask to the appropriate portion of the face. Alternatively  the sub-parts can remain united to each other within the upper or lower part during use of the mask  in which case the external surface of the mask can include markings for helping the user to position the upper and/or lower portions of the mask properly.
As an example of use  the user may tear the tearing dotted line 13 of the mask to separate the upper part 11 from the lower part 12  then wet the soluble substrate of the lower part 12 to generate a lather to apply to lower portion of the face for shaving preparation. During the shaving time  the upper part 11 of the mask can be applied to the upper portion of the face and deliver cosmetic preparations to the skin.

Examples:
According to one example of the invention  the lower and/or upper part of the mask is made from PVA fiber based nonwoven (water soluble substrate) or Viscose fiber based nonwoven (nonsoluble substrate) in which upper and lower parts are separated by dotted lines.
If both parts of the mask are made up of PVA fiber based nonwoven  than during the use  consumer need to first rub the lower part of the mask to generate the foam for shaving preparation and then following the shaving  the upper part can be rubbed to get the cleansing and skincare benefits. The solubility of PVA fiber is controlled such that PVA will be completely soluble only by rubbing the substrate on skin.
If both parts of the mask are made up of non-soluble fiber such as PET and Viscose or mixture thereof  than the consumer need to rub only the lower part of mask  similarly to use of wipes  and after foam generation  need to throw the residual substrate. While upper part of the mask is applied for skin benefits.
According to another example of the invention the lower part of the mask is made up of PVA fiber while the upper part is made up of Viscose or PET fiber or blend thereof. The mask can be manufactured in two separated parts or these two parts are joined together by thermal binding or other mean depending on exact composition of the nonwovens. In such case  only the lower part of the mask need to be rubbed for shaving preparation while upper part of the mask is applied for skin benefits.
On the lower part  variety of solid soaps may be employed  such as sodium and/or potassium cocoate  stearate  palmiate or mixtures thereof. The soap composition may vary from 70 to 90 wt. % of the shaving composition. Other than soap  thickening agent such as glycol  humectants such as propylene glycol  poly alkyl glycols and other components for fragrance  self foaming agent etc. can be also added. The shaving composition can be applied on substrate by dry coating or by spraying followed by drying. On the upper part of the mask  any dry composition for skin care treatment can be applied.
While the invention was described in conjunction with the detailed description above and illustrated figure  the foregoing description is only intended to illustrate and not limit the scope of the invention  which is defined by the scope of the appended claims. The invention is not limited to given examples. Other aspects  advantages and modifications are within the claims.
