Factors Affecting Awareness Of Mental Health Among Adults Of Selected Area

Abstract: The present invention provides factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area.Quantitative research approach with descriptive design is adapted for present study. Total 126 adults are selected through systematic random sampling. The tools administered consisted of baseline data, structured questionnaire on factor affecting awareness of mental health. Descriptive and inferential statistics used for analyses. This study showed that the samples reported that majority of the factors affecting awareness of mental health is superstitious belief, history of mental illness, peer group. The study explored that majority of the factors responsible for mental illness is superstitious belief, history of mental illness, peer group.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[001] The present invention relates to the field of medical science, and more particularly, the present invention relates to the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area.

BACKGROUND FOR THE INVENTION:
[002] The following discussion of the background to the invention is intended to facilitate an understanding of the present invention. However, it should be appreciated that the discussion is not an acknowledgment or admission that any of the material referred to is published, known, or part of the common general knowledge in any jurisdiction as of the priority date of the application. The details provided herein the background if belongs to any publication is taken only as a reference for describing the problems, in general terminologies or principles or both of science and technology in the associated prior art.
[003] The life cycle of the human being is a continuous process, which consists of a series of development in the human body. The modifications in the build develop with various stages of the life cycle. The adult is the stage of life at which an individual attains the physical and mental maturity. Mental health awareness delivers a wide range of knowledge and encompasses recognition and help-seeking behaviour. A study conducted in Zambia (2010) revealed that stigma and discriminating to the mentally ill client is still present in the community.
[004] In a study in Tehran (2011) people reported that people suffering from mental illness are discriminated and not accepted in the community.2 In India, WHO reported that mental health problem ha as high burden as, 2443 DALYs per 100,000 population. The suicide rate is 21.1 per 100,000 population. In Uttarakhand, the incidence rate of postpartum depression is 11% among mothers and the prevalence rate of depressive disorder is 6% as per 2014 report. These belief and attitudes are a potential barrier to seeking optimal professional help.
[005] Chadda RK, Patra BN, Gupta N. (2013) reported that community mental health refers to the treatment of mental health disorders. According to many epidemiological studies of psychiatric disorder have been conducted in India on general population in the community. The prevalence rate varies from 9.5 to 370/1000 population. India is a culturally diverse country, explanations for mental disorders have been influenced by system of traditional medicine, supernatural beliefs, poor socioeconomic status of the people and limited awareness regarding mental illness in the community.
[006] Gureje O, Lasebikan VO, Ephraim-Oluwanuga O, Olley BO, Kola L. (2005) conducted the study on knowledge and altered to mental illness. The purpose is to determine the community attitude and awareness. A multistage, clustered sample of household respondents is studied in three states in the Yoruba-speaking parts of Nigeria (representing 22% of the national population). Total 2040 individual included in the study. The study concluded that low knowledge is a concern in the community which leads to a negative view of mental illness. Stigmatization of mental illness is more prevalent in the Nigerian community.
[007] Mental health awareness delivers a wide range of knowledge and encompasses recognition and help-seeking behavior. Mental health services are assessed at ground level to monitor its delivery. Different mean of communication can use to highlight the mental health issues.
[008] In the light of the foregoing, there is a need for the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected areathat overcomes problems prevalent in the prior art.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[009] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfies, are as follows.
[010] The principal object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art by providing the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area.
[011] An object of the present invention is to provide the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area, wherein the study establishes that some factors like superstitious, history of mental illness, family environment, financial status, and peer group affect to mental health.
[012] Another object of the present invention is to provide the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area that identifies the factor affecting awareness of mental health among adults.
[013] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area, wherein present study have acknowledged various factor affecting awareness of mental health in the community as superstition, history of mental illness, peer group and family environment.
[014] Other objects and advantages of the present disclosure will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[015] According to one aspect of our invention, the factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area, wherein total 126 adults are selected through systematic random sampling.
[016] In another aspect of the invention, a study samples the majority 30.15% of the adults stays in the age set of 31- 40 years, 58.7% are females, 57.1 % are residing in the joint family, maximum of the sample 33.3 % has secondary education, family income of majority 69.84 % of the sample is between Rs 5000- 10000, 65.07% are married, 95.2% followed the Hindu religion.
[017] In another aspect of the invention, the whole sample 100% are reported that they don’t have any source of information regarding mental health and also don’t have any past history of mental illness.
[018] In another aspect of the invention, the tools administered consisted of baseline data, structured questionnaire on factor affecting awareness of mental health.
[019] In another aspect of the invention, the descriptive and inferential statistics is used for analysis.
[020] In another aspect of the invention, the study shows that the samples reported that majority of the factors affecting awareness of mental health is superstitious belief, history of mental illness, peer group.
[021] In another aspect of the invention, the study is explored that majority of the factors responsible for mental illness is superstitious belief, history of mental illness, peer group.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TABLE:
[022] Reference will be made to embodiments of the invention, examples of which may be illustrated in accompanying table. This table is intended to be illustrative, not limiting. Although the invention is generally described in the context of these embodiments, it should be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention to these particular embodiments.
[023] Table no.1 shows the table of percentage and frequency classification of factor affecting awareness of mental health in adults in accordance with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TABLE:
[024] While the present invention is described herein by way of example using embodiments and illustrative table, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments of drawing or table described and are not intended to represent the scale of the various components. Further, some components that may form a part of the invention may not be illustrated in certain figures, for ease of illustration, and such omissions do not limit the embodiments outlined in any way. In the following detailed description, numeric values and ranges are provided for various aspects of the implementations described. In addition, several materials are identified as suitable for various facets of the implementations. [028] The present invention relates to factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area.
[029] The descriptive method is implemented with systematic sampling technique in the study. Study is done on all the adults of Bhogpur village of Doiwala block, Dehradun, Uttrakhand. Total samples is 126. The data is collected through structured factor affecting awareness of mental health questionnaire and demographic details is obtained through baseline data. The tools are structured questionnaire on factors affecting awareness of mental health contains 15 question with yes and no response. Administrative agreement is attained from Principal Himalayan College of Nursing, SRHU. The ethical permission is taken from the ethical committee of SRHU than written consent of the participants is taken before doing the collection of data.
[030] Table no.1 Showed that majority 87.3% samples reported that superstitious belief had effect on mental health, 83.3% of the samples are aware that history of mental illness is one of the factor that influence mental health, samples’ responded related to peer group could affect the mental health i.e 82.5% and mental health in the community is influenced by family environment i.e 81.7%, long term physical illness is 81.1 % and 81% are media and technology. Some other factors like financial status 79.4%, low esteem and low self-confidence 76.4% and social issues and social instability 76.2% had effect on mental health.
[031] The study aims to recognize the various factors affecting awareness of mental health A total of 126 samples are selected in the study, through the systematic random sampling techniques. The discussion is done according to objectives and with supportive study.
[032] In the study samples the majority 30.15% of the adults stayed in the age set of 31- 40 years. 58.7% are females, 57.1 % are residing in the joint family. Maximum of the sample 33.3 % had secondary education. Family income of majority 69.84 % of the sample is between Rs 5000- 10000. 65.07% are married, 95.2% followed the Hindu religion. Whole sample 100% had reported that they don’t have any source of information regarding mental health and also don’t have any past history of mental illness. In the study it showed that various factors like superstitious belief, peer pressure, history of mental illness have influencing factor on awareness of mental health.
[033] The disclosure has been described with reference to the accompanying embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained with reference to the non-limiting embodiments in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments herein.

We Claim:

1) Factors affecting awareness of mental health among adults of selected area, wherein total 126 adults are selected through systematic random sampling;
wherein a study samples the majority 30.15% of the adults stays in the age set of 31- 40 years;
wherein 58.7% are females;
wherein 57.1 % are residing in the joint family;
wherein maximum of the sample 33.3 % has secondary education;
wherein family income of majority 69.84 % of the sample is between Rs 5000- 10000;
wherein 65.07% are married;
wherein 95.2% followed the Hindu religion;
wherein whole sample 100% are reported that they don’t have any source of information regarding mental health and also don’t have any past history of mental illness.
2) The awareness study as claimed in claim 1, wherein the tools administered consisted of baseline data, structured questionnaire on factor affecting awareness of mental health.
3) The awareness study as claimed in claim 1, wherein the descriptive and inferential statistics is used for analysis.
