Failsafe System And Method For Managing Failure Of High Power Dc Dc Converter Of An Electric Vehicle

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a failsafe system (100) and an associated method for managing failure of high power DC-DC converter of an electric vehicle. The failsafe system (100) includes a master battery management system (BMS) (102), a slave BMS (104) and a body control unit (BCU). The master BMS (102) comprises a BMS controller (102-1) that receives failure signal from a vehicle control unit (VCU) (124) on account of failure of a high power DC-DC converter (110) and accordingly activates a low power DC-DC converter (102-4) in order to power the essential loads (116) connected with the high power DC-DC converter (110). Simultaneously, the BCU optimizes functioning of non-essential loads for ensuring efficient management of power. In this manner, the electric vehicle obtains sufficient power to be able to be driven to a nearest service station for a checkup.
