3.PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION
COMPLETE:
To increase output and profitability in the agricultural sector, there is need to increase production and productivity and the recovery rate of sugarcane crop. Also, there is need to improve efficiency and to reduce costs of fertilizer feeding methods(techniques) by adopting the latest techniques, methodologies, and technology. For a proper placement (placing)of fertilizer to the sugarcane crop which helps to save wastage of fertilizer which is costly in nature and availability is also not up to the mark. So, this new methodology will help to save the fertilizer quantity, content as well as cost of fertilizer and placement technique.
The main aim of this is to develop fertilizer feeding machine for sugarcane farm along with seed sowing unit which would cease disadvantages of manually placement techniques. So, the wastage of chemical fertilizer is reduced and the fertilizer can be placed in the wet zone of sugarcane crop which will be proved as proper placement. Also seed sowing unit will help to reduce time and cost of conventional seed sowing techniques.
4.DESCRIPTION:
This system consists of following main parts - Furrow opener, Power wheel, Fertilizer hopper, Sliding plates for fertilizer and metering purpose, fertilizer feeding pipe, back flap, a clutch mechanism, span adjustment plates, pins and slots for length and angle adjustment, clampers. Description of each part:
1) Furrow opener- Function: Fertilizers by the broadcasting method results in the loss of fertilizer and in turn decreases the crop yield. In order to have the deep furrow on the side of the row, the shovel type of furrow opener is used. It includes following parts: 1 .Shank with the blade
2.Tube holder
As the power wheel moves the furrow opener moves the soil and produces a deep row required
for the fertilizer placement. It cuts a narrow slit so that fertilizer does not spread.

2) Power Wheel- This is a wheel for the forward motion of the machine. The wheel has indentations on the periphery of the wheel so that it could not get stuck into the moist soil and have a forward motion.
Fig. Power wheel
3) Fertilizer Hopper-: The fertilizer box is made of sheet 2 mm thick. The box is designed on the basis of area of land. The box was located above the base frame supporting the furrow openers and transport cum depth control beam.
Fig. Hopper
4.) Fertilizer and seed metering sliding plates- Purpose to use mechanism is set in the machine to place the fertilizer as per requirement of the varying plant to plant spacing.
Fertilizer metering mechanism -
Fertilizer metering devices are those devices that meter the fertilizer from the fertilizer hopper and deposit it into the delivery system that conveys the fertilizer for its
placement.
Functional requirements of fertilizer metering devices:
1. Meter the fertilizer at a predetermined rate/output (e.g. kg/ha or amount/meter of row length).
2. Meter the fertilizer with the required accuracy (spacing) to meet the planting Pattern
requirements.
3. Cause minimal damage to the fertilizer mixture during the metering process.
The function can be fulfilled by using two plates operated by a clutch mechanism. When we apply the pressure on the handle the two plates uncover the rectangular hole and the fertilizer is placed in the soil. After this when we release it the spring force bring it back to the original position.

5.) Fertilizer feeding pipe: It is provided behind the furrow opener, fertilizer is run through the sliding mechanism and it is made available to feeding pipe after application of operating clutch. Fertilizer Feeding pipe is provided so that fertilizer can be provided exactly at furrow created by furrow opener. This pipe is helpful for a reduction in usage of fertilizer.
Fig. Fertilizer feeding pipe
6.) Back Flap: - It is provided so that furrow can be covered immediately after fertilizer provided in the furrow. Furrow created by furrow opener must be covered immediately so that fertilizer will not get wasted. The back flap is provided after fertilizer feeding pipe.
Fig. Backflap
7.) Clutch Mechanism:
The clutch mechanism is provided to control the amount of fertilizer provided into fertilizer feeding pipe. Control of clutch is provided to the operator so that he will able to provide fertilizer at the exact required position. Clutch is mounted on handle located at the upper side which is actuated with help of helical springs. When the clutch is operated with help of lever provided, flaps will move in opposite direction from centre. This leads to rush of fertilizer into feeding pipe due to gravity.

10)Clampers: They are provided for clamping purpose, which clamps the tubular furrow opener and tubular back flap frames, as per required span, length, and angle.
5. CONSTRUCTION AND WORKING:
The machine consists of different parts such as a hopper, power wheel, side tubular supporting structure, furrow opener, sliding mechanism, back flaps, a clutch mechanism, span, and furrow angle adjustment mechanism and pin, slot and clampers. A farmer can put fertilizer or seeds in the hopper as per requirement. The handle is equipped with a clutch mechanism so that he can put and adjust flow and quantity of fertilizer or seed. Because clutch is directly connected to metering sliding plate mechanism which is situated immediately at the bottom of the hopper. At front space of furrow, there is one triangular span adjustment plate over which side tubular structure is mounted So that we can adjust the lateral span of the model as per requirement. Which is dependent on the span of a furrow in the farm Two furrow openers are provided on both the sides so that farmer can open the furrow from both the sides at simultaneously. Fertilizer feeding pipe is provided behind the furrow on both the sides which is starting from a bottom part of hopper outlets. Where two outlets are provided for two sides and connected to the feeding pipes. Back flaps are provided behind the pipes on both the sides so that soil can be put over the fertilizer or seeds. Slots are given for furrow showel and back flap fitting purpose. So that they can be adjusted at required depth and angle as per slope of the furrow. The shaft of power wheel and a portion of side tubular frame is provided with slots and pin mechanism, due to which the lateral span and length of the model can be adjusted.
This is model, instead of making holes in the field, continuously furrowing of land. It will take less time than making holes in soil near sugar field. Here farmer doesn't require to wait for making a hole and aligning fertilizer feeding pipe with a hole. This practice helps for easy and efficient aligning and feeding. A farmer can easily control the amount of fertilizer deposited to each plant by the metering mechanism. With the help of this mechanism controlling and saving of fertilizer can be done. Hence when the crops like sugarcane are sown close together in rows, the fertilizer is applied in continuous bands on one or both sides of the row, which is known as row placement. By placing fertilizer below ground and on either side of cane row nitrogen utilization will be increased by 50%. When Urea is deep-placed into the soil, where majority remain in the form of ammonium, which is less mobile than nitrates. As consequence, more nitrogen is available to the crops throughout the life cycle. The main advantages obtained are as follows:
• Utilization of fertilizer by plants is higher.
• Loss of nitrogen by leaching is reduced
Being immobile, phosphates are better utilized when placed The weeds all over the field cannot make use of the fertilizer.
