Fifth Wheel Coupler Force Measuring Transducer Device And Method
Abstract: A fifth wheel coupler force measuring transducer device includes a bearing pin formed with a number of pockets that are engraved on an upper end surface and a lower end surface of the bearing pin. The bearing pin in a pair to connect a top plate and a bottom bracket of a fifth wheel coupler. The bearing pin further includes a number of strain gauge sensors each placed and positioned on each of the pockets and grooves formed on the surface of the bearing pin in such a way that the strain gauge sensors are connected in the form of a Wheatstone bridge circuit connection via the grooves to form a load cell. The load cell measures a longitudinal load force, a vertical load force and moment acting on the fifth wheel coupler. FIG. 7
