Finger Print Based Exam Hall Authentication System

Abstract: A fingerprint based examination hall authentication system is invented. The system is designed to pass only those users who are verified by their fingerprint scan and non-verified users will not be allowed. The invented device consists of a fingerprint scanner connected to a microcontroller circuit. In registration mode the system allows to register up to 100 users and save their identity with respective id numbers in the system memory. After storage the person needs to first scan his finger on the scanner. The microcontroller now checks the person’s fingerprint validity. If the fingerprint is authorized the microcontroller now sends a signal to a motor driver. The motor driver now operates a motor to open a gate. This ensures only authorized users are allowed to enter the examination section and un authorized users are not allowed to enter without any human intervention. Biometrics access using fingerprints and blood flow detection to avoid cloning of fingers using plastics. 4 claims & 2 Figures

The present invention relates to, an authentication technology using different biometric technology such as fingerprint, facial features and, vein pattern. The process for allowing student to sit for an examination in most universities has been through the identification such as ID cards, fees clearance card, photo cards, etc. a student for an examination has an obvious problem such as presentation of fake clearance card and so on. But biometrics is a technology that uniquely identifies a person based on his physiological or behavioral characteristics. The aim of this work is to design a program that will address issues of exam misconducts such as impersonation.
Background of the invention
Biometrics is a rapidly evolving technology that has been widely used in forensics, such as criminal identification and prison security, and has the potential to be widely adopted in a very broad range of civilian applications. A deep convolution neural network base systems (Cho,et.al., [2020], IEEE Access, 8, pp. 49857-49872.) and in (Kim,et.al., [2019], IEEE Access, 7, pp. 71270-71285.), where the motion-blurred finger wrinkle images can be recognized and restored. A face recognition system for automatic class attendance (Pawaskar, et.al., [2020], IEEE Bombay Section Signature Conference, pp. 180-185.) A finger-print based integrated portal system was proposed to automatically manage the attendance in a class (Badejo, et.al.,[2017],International Conference on Computational Science and Computational Intelligence (CSCI), pp. 1016-1020.).
The problems that occurs for this application to develop are universities or institutions are still implementing traditional way to record attendance for examination by using pen and paper. Next, a student must always bring relevant identification such as identity card and exam slip to the exam and he/she will be prevented from taking the exam if he/she forget to bring those items. Furthermore, the process of taking students’ attendance manually is a difficult task as human can make mistake as well as the process can consume a lot of time. A Wi-Fi enabled fingerprint based work attendance system is invented (CN104143219B), where all the timing information like coming late and left early can also be recorded in the system. A method and device is invented in (EP3252664A1), which can improve the fingerprint template and performance of terminal devices.
The objective of this invention is to develop a fingerprint biometric approach based device, which recognizes an individual by comparing his/her biometrics with every record in the database. The expected result from the system is that the new system will compulsorily prompt for biometric in order to allow student gain access into the system for authentication and identification of real student before entering into examination hall.
Summary of the invention
The Summary of the invention is to create a system that is capable of tracking impersonators in the examination system using the methodology of finger print biometrics. To reduce rate of corruption in the educational sector and increase the rate of self-confidence on students. To demonstrate the possibility of computer technology in the satisfaction of human needs and also enforce strict security measures that ensure unregistered students do not write exams for other registered students.
Detailed description of the invention
The biometric identification consists of two stages: Enrollment and Authentication Structured system analysis and design methodology (SSADM). While using the system structured analysis and design methodology SSADM the following sequence of step were carried out: A thorough investigation will be carried out on the present system that exist in the university by me this is to enable me finds out the facts about it before trying to improve on it. For good job to be achieved I shall logically go through the various phases of institute, so as to get accurate data collections. The method for data collections shall be: evaluating all forms, interviewing through oral and written method (questionnaires), observation method and studying of procedural manuals.
The analysis of data gathered will be established. We will try to know how quickly and cheap is the present system, how does it meet the objectives and its problem spots. Design: we structured the system under study, following the specification of processing requirement such as input files, master files and segmentation of these processes into programs. This examination impersonation elimination system that uses manual identification. In identification, the system recognizes an individual by comparing his/her biometrics with every record in the database. In general, biometric identification consists of two stages: Enrollment and Authentication. During enrollment, the biometrics of the user is captured (using a fingerprint reader, which are likely to be an optical, solid state or an ultrasound sensor or other suitable device) and the unique features are extracted and stored in a database as a template for the subject along with the student ID. The objective of the enrolment module is to admit a student using his/her ID and fingerprints into a database after feature extraction. These features form a template that is used to determine the identity of the student, formulating the process of authentication. The enrollment process is carried out by an administrator in the examination system.
