BACKGROUND
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Bottom trawling is one of the most common and very effective technique used to catch fishes. In bottom trawling the net is supposed to be dragged across sea or river bed. However, while bottom trawling, the net gets dragged across the bottom while touching the bottom. This becomes a concern for the net, if the sea bed or the river bed is not even and has lots of obstacles in it which can increase abrasion of the net while bottom trawling. This increased abrasion to the fish net can cause damage to the net due to the point contact with the sea bed while bottom trawling is higher. The net can easily get damaged while dragging it from the bottom.
[0004] Conventionally, a bare fishing line is used as a ground line in the trawling net rollers are provided at a ground line of the trawling net, and the netting is laced directly to one or more cables. However, this technique is only useful when the sea bed is clean and smooth or mudded. The ground line can be referred to the line which is supposed to be in touch with the sea bed while bottom trawling. Another technique is using rollers as ground gear require regular maintenance, and when the rollers are attached to the ground rope while fishing a catenary curved shape, the axes of the rollers, particularly the outer rollers, are strongly inclined to the perpendicular to the line of travel, so that such rollers are prevented from freely rotating and efficiently operating. This reduces the efficiency of the trawling and also consumes more energy while trawling.
[0005] There is, a need of an improved fish net for bottom trawling is desired to reduce the chances of the fish net getting damaged while bottom trawling.

[0036] The trawl net of the present disclosure enables to overcome the limitations of the prior art by reducing abrasion of the net against sea bed and protect net from damaging, which gives longer serviceability of the net. The trawl net of the present disclosure enables to overcome the limitations of the prior art by providing composite structure attached to the trawl net such that point contact with the water or the sea bed can be reduced. The composite structure attached to the trawl net improves the abrasion resistance and helps for faster sinking for the net, which gives longer serviceability of the net for fishing purposes thereby to decrease the fuel cost of trawler. The composite structure readily rides over obstacles and thus protecting the rear pocket or codend from wear, also useful in preventing entanglement of the various cables and steadies the whole net structure.
[0037] Other features and advantages of the trawl net according to the present disclosure may appear from the following detailed description of a number of embodiments with reference to the attached drawings. The description of terms and features related to the present disclosure shall be clear from the embodiments that are illustrated and described; however, the invention is not limited to these embodiments only. Numerous modifications, changes, variations, substitutions, and equivalents of the embodiments are possible within the scope of the present disclosure. Additionally, the invention can include other embodiments that are within the scope of the claims but are not described in detail with respect to the following description.
[0038] FIG. 1 illustrates an exemplary fish net with a composite structure, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0039] As illustrated in FIG. 1, trawl net 100 which floats freely in the water, the trawl net 100 which may be moved through the water at a certain predetermined depth under the surface of the water or at a certain predetermined height above the bottom of the sea to entrap aquatic animals which live on the sea bottom. The trawl net 100 can include a head line 110 at an upper edge of a net body (also referred to as net, herein), a ground line 114 at a lower edge of the net body. The trawl net 100 can include a set of ground gears (112, 116, 118 (illustrated and described in FIG. 2A to 2C)) attached to foot rope, ground rope, ground line, foot line, lead line, codend or any other portion of the trawl net 100.
[0040] The proposed trawling net 100 can include one or more cables 104 configured to be coupled to a boat rear side. The net can be coupled with the one or more cables 104 using otter board 102. The net can include an open end and a closed end. The open end can be configured to be coupled with the one or more cables 104. The closed end can be configured to be dragged in the water. The net can include the head line 110, the ground line 114, and foot rope 108. The ground line 114 that can be configured to be engaged with the water while trawling. The set of ground gears (112, 116, 118) of composite structure, as presented in the example can coupled to the ground line 114 of the net.
[0041] The set of ground gears (112, 116, 118) of composite structure coupled to the ground line 114 of the net body and adapted to be dragged along the bottom of the sea at the predetermined depth, where the set of ground gears (112, 116, 118) is structured in such a manner to protect the net body from damage and to reduce abrasion of the net body against the bottom of the sea. The set of ground gears (112, 116, 118) can include fin-like structure 112, U-shaped structures 116, half-circle like structures 118 and any combination thereof. The one or more fin-like structure 112 (also referred to as fin-like structure 112, herein) shown in FIG. 2A, one or more U-shaped structures 116 (also referred to as U-shaped structures 116, herein) shown in FIG. 2B and one or more full circle or half-circle like structures 118 (also referred to as half-circle like structures 118, herein) are shown in FIG. 2C.
[0042] In an exemplary embodiment, as depicted in FIG. 1, the composite structure 112 can be attached to the ground line 114 of the net such that a pointed side of the fin is left to be dragged across the water or water bed. The composite structure can reduce the abrasion resistance caused to the fish net while trawling. This can be because of the shape of the composite structure since the point contact with the water or the water bed can be reduced by the fin.
[0043] For example, the trawl net 100 can be dragged across sharp objects which may be buried in the substrate. This may cause damage to the trawl net which requires the user to remove the trawl from service and have it repaired, a process, which could be time consuming and expensive. The present disclosure overcomes the limitation by providing the set of ground gears attached to foot rope, ground rope, ground line, foot line, lead line, codend or any other portion of the trawl net that helps for reducing abrasion of the net against sea bed and protects the net from damaging, which gives longer serviceability of the net.
[0044] In an embodiment, the cables 104 can be chosen of high strength materials since the cables has to bear the resistance caused by any or combination of the water and the water bed while trawling the net. The one or more cables 104 can be made of material such as but not limited to polyester, fiber, and metal. The net (also interchangeably referred to as net body, herein) can be made of materials selected from a group comprising polyester, polyolefin, polyurethane, amides, imides, natural origin, synthetic origin, semi-synthetic and any combination thereof.
[0045] FIG. 2A illustrates the composite structure attached to a bottom line/ground line of the fish net, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0046] Referring to FIG. 2A, the proposed trawl net 100 can include the set of ground gears (112, 116, 118) attached to foot rope, ground rope, ground line, foot line, lead line, codend or any other portion of the trawl net.
[0047] As depicted in FIG. 2A, the fin-like composite structure 112 can be attached to the ground line 114 such that the pointed side of the fin is left to be dragged across the water or water bed. The composite structure can reduce an abrasion resistance caused to the fish net while trawling. This can be because of the shape of the composite structure since the point contact with the water or the water bed can be reduced by the fin.
[0048] In an embodiment, the proposed trawl net 100 can provide longer serviceability of the net. The composite structure attached to the trawl net improves the abrasion resistance and helps for the faster sinking of the net (also referred to as fish net, herein). The drag of trawl gear determines the power required to overcome the hydrodynamic resistance of gear towed at a particular speed in the bottom trawl. A smaller contact area of fin attached to ground rope may offer the lowest drag force thereby decreasing energy consumption during the trawl.
[0049] The composite structure not only readily ride over obstacles and thus protecting the rear pocket or codend from wear, it is also useful in preventing entanglement of the various cables and steadies of the whole net structure. The composite structure can be made of reinforced, corrosion-free, and rustproof material.
[0050] In an embodiment, the proposed composite structure reduces damage chances to the net while trawling, serviceability of the net increase, and also reduces cost in the trawling process. At the same time, the proposed composite structure to be used at a ground rail also caused less damage to the water bed itself.
[0051] FIG. 2B illustrates the U-shaped structure attached to a bottom line/ground line of the fish net, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The U-shaped structure 116 can be attached to the ground line 114 and can be dragged across the water or water bed. The U-shaped structure 116 can reduce the abrasion resistance caused to the fish net while trawling.
[0052] FIG. 2C illustrates the half-circle like structure attached to bottom line/ground line of the fish net, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The half-circle like structure 118 can be attached to the ground line 114 and can be dragged across the water or sea bed. The half-circle like structure 118 can reduce an abrasion resistance caused to the fish net while trawling.
[0053] In an embodiment, the composite structure 112, U-shaped structure 116, half-circle like structure 118 can be made of resins selected from a group comprising epoxy, acrylic, esters, aldehydes, amides, imides, carboxyl, poly urethane and the like with or without reinforcement like fibres, filaments, woven fabric, nonwoven fabric, knitted fabric, braided material, narrow fabric, metallic sheets and the like in any or a combination of a single layer or multiple layers.
[0054] Any fibres or filaments can be selected from the group comprising polyester, polyolefin, polyurethane, ceramics, amides, imides, natural origin or synthetic origin or semi-synthetic origin with fineness not limited to 1 denier and more. The composite structure (also interchangeably referred to as composite fixture) can be produced by the process of vacuum infusion system, pultrusion, moulding, compression, injection or protective coating with or without additive or any other process with smooth surface, rough surface, grooved surface, embossed surface and the likes with thickness not limited to 1mm to 5 mm or more. Any other material or fixture attached to the trawl net 100 in any numbers to protect the netting from abrading with anything not limited to the sea bed. The trawl net 100 attached with the composite fixture helps for reducing abrasion of the net against the sea bed and protects the net from damage, which gives longer serviceability of the net.
[0055] In an exemplary embodiment, the composite fixture attached to the trawl net 100 can be nine or more, which reduces drag, improves the abrasion resistance and helps for faster sinking for the net with longer serviceability of the net for fishing purposes, thereby decreasing the fuel cost of the trawler.
[0056] The embodiments of the present disclosure described above provide several advantages. The advantages achieved by the trawl net 100 of the present disclosure can be clear from the embodiments provided herein. The present disclosure provides the trawl net 100 with fibre reinforced composite structure that provides good abrasion resistance. The trawl net 100 is corrosion-resistant, rustproof, durable and requires less maintenance.
[0057] In an embodiment, dragging the trawl net across the sea bottom may increase the force with which the trawl net must be pulled, thereby increasing the usage of motor fuel on the part of the boat. The trawl net 100 of the present disclosure can overcome the limitation by designing the composite structure, which enables less drag force, reduces the fuel consumption and avoids damage caused to the sea bed. The trawl net 100 of the present disclosure enables better, faster sinking ability and improves serviceability. Further, the proposed trawl net 100 can be utilized for pulse trawl.
[0058] Moreover, in interpreting the specification, all terms should be interpreted in the broadest possible manner consistent with the context. In particular, the terms “comprises” and “comprising” should be interpreted as referring to elements, components, or steps in a non-exclusive manner, indicating that the referenced elements, components, or steps may be present, or utilized, or combined with other elements, components, or steps that are not expressly referenced.
