DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Referring to fig. 1, 2 & 3 present invention is a fixture 17 used to hold and
position the workpiece 16 in multiple planes and adapted for use on multi axis milling
10 machine. The fixture 17 is designed to hold the workpiece 16 within dimensional
tolerance with respect to multiples planes.
Fixture 17 for holding a workpiece 16 comprises a base plate 1 having a substantially flat
top surface A and bottom surface B. Base plate is made of mild steel. Surface B of base
plate, rest on milling machine bed. Fixture 17 is fixed on the milling machine bed with
15 the help of four through counter bore holes 18.
Work piece 16 rest on surface C of block 2 mounted on surface A of the Base
Plate 1 with the help of Four Allen head screw 11. The hanging part of the workpiece 16
is supported at separate plane by the support 5 mounted on the base plate 1. The
support is mounted on the base plate by using two nuts 12. The height of support 5 can
20 be adjusted with the help nut 12. Two clamping pads 6 have been provided on the two
clamps 3 to hold at desired position the hanging portion of the workpiece 16. The
clamps 6 are assembled with base plate with the help of two Allen head screw 10 and
two Allen head screw are provided on the clamps 6 for providing adjustment during the
fixing of the workpiece 16.
25 Further the bottom surface of the workpiece resting on the surface C of the
block 2 is fixed to the block with three Clamps 4 mounted on the block 2 by three Allen
head screw 8. These clamps 4 are provided with Allen head screws 7 for adjustment
during the clamping of the workpiece 16. The vertical portion of the workpiece 16 is
supported on the surface 13 of the block 2. Two guide pins 19 provided on the Block 2
30 for locating the workpiece accurately on the top surface C.
