Abstract: A fixture for supporting an overload valve for high capacity steam turbine during transportation the apparatus comprising: a first set of three number of T-shaped beam (3) arranged longitudinally forming a base; a second set of three number of T-shaped beam (3) arranged transversely to the first set of T-shaped beam (2); a C-shaped channel (19) coupled to the T-shaped beam by welding means that comprises plurality of wooden blocks (8) wherein the overload valve (1) is placed on the wooden block (8) and fastened by fastening means.
Field of invention:-
The present invention relates to a fixture for safe handling and road transport of Overload valve of 660/700/800 MW Steam Turbine.
Background of invention:-
Overload valve is a key component of a Thermal Power Plant operating with 660/700/800MW steam turbine. The Overload valve has weight of about three Tons and dimensions of approximately 2.6 m x1.6 m x 0.85 m.
In recent times many steam turbine module toppled during road transportation which resulted in damages to the critical components and delay in erection and commissioning of the power plants. With huge weight of subject assembly and limitation of support location due to complexity of the product the transportation, the fixture should be safe from strength point of view for carrying the component with the road condition. A design of Fixture for safe transportation of Overload valve is not available. Hence, there was a need to design a new fixture for safe transportation of Overload valve for 660/700/800 MW capacity steam turbines.
Objects of the invention:-
An object of the invention is to design a fixture made of fabricated steel for safe
handling and road transport of Overload valve of 660/700/800MW steam turbine.
Another object of the invention is to design the frame with proper dimensions to fit the Overload valve of dimension 2.6 m x 1.6 m x 0.85 m into it for road transportation purpose.
Another object of the invention is design a proper lifting arrangement for easy heavy weight lifting.

of illustration only. A person skilled in the art will easily recognize from the following description that alternative embodiments of the structures and methods illustrated herein may be employed without departing from the principles of the disclosure described herein.
Detailed description of the invention:-
The Base of the transportation package is made of three no. ‘T’ shaped beam kept in longitudinal direction (2) and three no. ‘T’ shaped beams kept in transverse direction (3) above longitudinal direction (2) ‘T’ shaped beam. These ‘T’ beams are fabricated with two no. ‘C’ shaped channels joined with rectangular plates (4) at suitable distances. Longitudinal beams (2) and transverse beams (3) are also welded together at suitable places to fabricate the base structure. Further, four no. ‘C’ shaped channels (19) are welded above cross beams (3) which provide pocket for wooden blocks (8). Wooden block are fastened with ‘C’ shaped channels (19) and transverse beams (3) with the help of studs, bolts and washers (9, 10, 11) of different sizes.
Overload valve (1) is kept on the wooden pads (8) and fastened with the help of steel straps (5). Wooden pads on which Overload valve (1) is seated are smooth cut in shapes to suit curved surface of Overload valve (1).
The above fixture and valve is completely covered with wooden shooks (12) and GI sheets (14). Wooden beams (15) are fastened with the base structure through fasteners (16, 17, 18 ). Wooden shooks (12) are fixed on wooden beams
(15) through nails. Top wooden beam (13) are provided to support top shook. Covers (6) have been provided for the protection of inlet and outlet end of Overload valve and also to prevent ingress of dirt during transportation and storage at site.
We Claim:-1. A fixture for supporting an overload valve for high capacity steam turbine during transportation the apparatus comprising:-- a first set of three number of T-shaped beam (3) arranged longitudinally forming a base;
- a second set of three number of T-shaped beam (3) arranged transversely to the first set of T-shaped beam (2)
- a C-shaped channel (19) coupled to the T-shaped beam by welding means that comprises plurality of wooden blocks (8)
wherein the overload valve (1) is placed on the wooden block (8) and fastened by fastening means.
2. The fixture as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fastening means may be steel straps (5).
3. The fixture as claimed in claim 1, wherein plurality wooden shook (12) and plurality GI sheet (4) covers the overload valve (1).
4. The fixture as claimed in claim 1, wherein cover (6) are provided at the inlet and outlet of the overload valve (1) to avoid ingress of dirt.
