Abstract: The invention relates to a flip out mechanism for key integrated with remote for an automotive vehicle. The said flip out key mechanism comprises a rubber pad, having integrally formed remote button covered with a metal plate having opening for the said remote buttons, mounted over a PCB & transponder placed on a base having cavity in the bottom to receive a key blank. The said key is flipped by means of a pivot pin and bush button integrated with the said base. Two numbers of cams are placed in the said pivot pin of the key head such that said the key is rotate able by 180 degrees. Each side of the said base near to said pivot pin an actuating button held by a retention spring guided by a metal insert locking the said cams in un-actuated state. And a top cover plate having window opening to expose said metal plate fitted to the said base. REFERENCE FIGURE 5

THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATION PARTICULARLY DESCRIBES AND ASCERTAINS THE NATURE OF THIS INVENTION AND THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS TO BE PERFORMED

FIELD OF INVENTION:-
The present invention is related to ignition key assembly for a motor vehicle. More particularly the present invention is related to the flip out type mechanism for a key of a motor vehicle integrated with remote buttons embedded inside the logo.
BACKGROUND OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The key remote is the most preferred component in an automotive vehicle by the user of the vehicle. The key in a vehicle is used for cranking the engine and for locking and unlocking the vehicle as well. Therefore, this component has to be carefully designed to meet the user requirements.
Therefore, to meet the customer requirement the proposed key with flip out mechanism and integrated with remote buttons in a particular fashion was worked to create a wow factor in the customers mind. Two concepts were worked out for the same remote. The basic difference between the two concepts is the thickness of the remote attached to the key. However, the packaging and other configuration remains the same. Another requirement was to integrate the logo of manufacturer/OEM in the key remote which gives pride to the user in owning a particular brand of a vehicle. The possibility of incorporating the buttons in the logo was studied and feasibility was checked for the same.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
The main object of the present invention is to provide a flip out type key assembly integrated with a remote for automotive vehicles.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide flip out type key assembly with remote wherein the remote buttons are embedded thereon in a particular fashion inside the logo of the OEM.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a flip out type key assembly wherein the actuating buttons are provided on side edges of the remote and key gets actuated only when it is desired by the user.
Still further object of the invention is to provide compact, safe and user-friendly flip out type key assembly for motor vehicles.
Accordingly the invention provides a flip out mechanism for key integrated with remote for an automotive vehicle comprises a rubber pad, having integrally formed remote button covered with a metal plate having opening for the said remote buttons, mounted over a PCB & transponder placed on a base having cavity in the bottom to receive a key blank; the said key is flipped by means of a pivot pin and bush button integrated with the said base; two numbers of cams are placed in the said pivot pin of the key head such that said the key is rotate able by 180 degrees ;each side of the base near to said pivot pin an actuating button held by a retention spring guided by a metal insert locking the said cams in un-actuated state; and a top cover plate having window opening to expose said metal plate fitted to the said base.
DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES:-
Figure 1 shows key in closed condition integrated with remote buttons therein as per the concept 1 of the present invention.
Figure 2 shows key in open condition integrated with remote buttons therein as per the concept 1 of the present invention.
Figure 3 shows key in closed condition integrated with remote buttons therein as per the concept 2 of the present invention.
Figure 4 shows key in open condition integrated with remote buttons therein as per the concept 2 of the present invention.

Figure 5 shows exploded view disclosing constructional details of the flip type mechanism of the key integrated with remote in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 6 shows exploded view of key with its mounting arrangement in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 7 explains the actuating mechanism of the key of the present invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION:-
Referring to figures, two concepts were worked out. Concept 1: is dome type flip key with remote integrated with it (logo integrated button). Concept 2: is slim remote integrated with flip key (logo integrated button). The basic difference between the two concepts is the thickness of the remote attached to the key. However, the packaging and other configuration remains the same. Another requirement was to integrate the logo of manufacturer/OEM in the key remote which gives pride to the user in owning a particular brand of a vehicle. The possibility of incorporating the buttons in the logo was studied and feasibility was checked for the same.
In the concept 1, i.e. dome type remote, the buttons were incorporated in the logo itself. The logo remains chrome plated and the buttons are in santoperne rubber material.
Referring to figure 5 flip out key with remote comprises a base with bottom having cavity to receive a key blank. The upper portion of the said base provided with PCB and transponder. The said PCB and transponder is covered with a rubber pad with integrally formed remote button. The said rubber pad is provided with metallic cover having opening for the said remote button. A top cover having window opening fitted to said base The key is flipped by means of a pivot pin and bush button integrated with the bottom base of the remote as shown in figures 6 and 7. The key actuation buttons are placed on the sides of the key remote so that the key is operated only when both the buttons are actuated. This particular feature of key

actuation buttons prevents any mis-actuation of the key or actuation of the key when it is not desired.
These key actuation buttons are placed on the sides of the remote which are held by two retention springs. These springs are guided by special metal inserts in the base of the remote as shown in figure 6. Two cams are placed in the central pivot axis of the key head. These cams are in axis with the pivot pin of the key remote. Once the key is rotated by 180 degrees the key gets locked and remains locked condition till it is actuated by the push buttons. There are only two positions in the remote (opened and closed) positions.
It is a compact and safe key assembly. The total remote size goes into 65x40x14 and 65x40x21 mm in case of the compact and dome type remotes. The remote does not have a key protruding in normal conditions. This gives a customer a wow feeling and a compact remote. This is the first kind of remote with logo integrated buttons.
The prior art concepts in the public domain generally have a actuating button over the top surface of the remote. Therefore, when the key is kept in pocket by the user, there are chances of auto actuation of the key because of slight pressure over it. This may injure / harm the customer body. To prevent this only the flip mechanism is introduced. This will eliminate any type of mis-actuation by the customer. The customer will operate the button only when it is required.

WE CLAIM:-
1. A flip out mechanism for key integrated with remote for an automotive vehicle comprises a rubber pad, having integrally formed remote button covered with a metal plate having opening for the said remote buttons, mounted over a PCB & transponder placed on a base having cavity in the bottom to receive a key blank; the said key is flipped by means of a pivot pin and bush button integrated with the said base; two numbers of cams are placed in the said pivot pin of the key head such that said the key is rotate able by 180 degrees ;each side of the base near to said pivot pin an actuating button held by a retention spring guided by a metal insert locking the said cams in un-actuated state; and a top cover plate having window opening to expose said metal plate fitted to the said base.
2. A flip out mechanism for key as claimed in claim 1 wherein the said metal plate is provide with logo of manufacturer.
3. A flip out mechanism for key as claimed in claim 1 and 2 wherein the said rubber pad and remote button is made of santoperne rubber material.
