Abstract: In a flue gas treatment apparatus comprising a flue gas scrubber (1) with attached recirculation circuit, in which there recirculates a liquid which comprises a sodium hydroxide-containing absorbent and water condensed out in the flue gas scrubber (1) from the flue gas stream to be cleaned, and with a cooling means arranged in the recirculation circuit, the flue gas scrubber (1) being connected to an upstream flue gas desulphurization unit which supplies flue gas, the intention is to provide a solution which allows improved cooling of the liquid recirculated in the flue gas scrubber, comprising sodium hydroxide and condensed water, and at the same time a reduction in the volume of recirculation circuit liquid to be taken off as waste water. This is achieved in that the cooling means arranged in the recirculation circuit is a cooling tower (8).
