Detailed description of the invention:
It should be noted that the particular description with features, designs, components, construction, working and embodiments set forth in the specification below are merely exemplary of the wide variety and arrangement of instructions which can be employed with the present invention. The present invention maybe embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. All the features disclosed in this specification may be replaced by similar other or alternative features performing similar or same or equivalent purposes. Thus, unless expressly stated otherwise, they all are within the scope of present invention. Various modifications or substitutions are also possible without departing from the scope or spirit of the present invention. Therefore, it is to be understood that this specification has been described by way of the most preferred embodiments and for the purposes of illustration and not limitation.
The present invention provides a compact, user-friendly, and water saving foot operated valve assembly comprises of various parts wherein the apparatus consists of body made up of but not limited to Brass with chromium plating. The foot operated valve works on the principle of applying pressure by foot over the pedal (1) hinged/pivoted (2) to the body which closes or opens the valve thereby controlling the supply of water without applying any effort by hand. The said appliance consists of inlet (9) at the distal end of the pedal (1) and outlet (5) at the proximal end.
The dimension of the foot operated valve assembly from one end to the other end for the most comfortable operation is taken as 182 mm which may change as per the requirement. The width of the pedal (1) for the easy operation has been given as 36 mm hinged/pivoted (2) to the cylindrical casing/body (3) so that pedal can be moved up and down. The cylindrical casing having dimension of 73 mm comprises of inlet (9) and outlet (5) with screw slot (10) for fixing the said assembly at the desired location on the floor. The spindle assembly as shown in figure 2 consists of the washer assembly (7) in the distal chamber connected to inlet of the assembly. When the pedal is in the idle condition, no fluid is discharged from the outlet. The pressure applied by the spindle movement compresses the spring and fluid is filled in the proximal chamber (11) and is discharged through the outlet (5). The inlet (9) and outlet (5) are provided with ½” BSP threading. The inlet thread length is prescribe but not limited to be 10mm. The distance from the centre of the body till the slot end is prescribed as 30mm as given in figure 2.
The figure 3 shows the body of the valve assembly wherein section C-C show the section through outlet. R4, R5 represent the radius of the slot (10) for fixing screw. The length from the one end of the cylindrical body to the other end is 60mm and from the centre of the outlet to the distal end of the cylindrical body is 45 mm. The other dimension in the body can be easily described wherein the inlet side the internal threading size is M2.4*1.5 that is the basic size is 24 mm and thread having pitch dimension 1.5 mm.
As shown in figure 4, the spindle having length 55 mm with stopper dimension 3 mm so the spindle after release of the pedal is halted at the proximal end moving inside the body. The external diameter of the spindle is 10mm.
The inlet nozzle threads size is ½” BSP and for fitting same on body, the external threading is M 24 x 1.5. The nozzle rubber “O” ring (13) provided to avoid any leakage of the fluid having dimension of diameter 20mm. The foot operated valve body “O” ring (12) having dimension of outer diameter 14 mm. The spindle flat rubber washer (7) controls the flow of the Foot Operated Valve.
As shown in figure 7, the entire length of the pedal (1) is 108 mm where the flat pedal has the dimension of 43 mm and the distal end of the pedal is 12.5 mm wide which is hinged/pivoted to the cylindrical end of the body. The pedal top view can be easily observed with various dimensions.
The side view with curve in the pedal is 23.5 mm with angular dimension of 147O.
The outer slot of the hinges is 9.5 mm and inner slot is 5.2 mm.
The device consists of spindle (4) which, upon applying pressure over the pedal moves inside the cylindrical (3) casing and closes the opening at the partition between two chambers. The said apparatus consists of spindle flat rubber washer (7) to create tight seal between inlet and outlet. The hex slot in the nozzle (8) is to open or fix the inlet nozzle with the valve body. The spring (6) helps to bring back the spindle in close position, when foot is lifted from the pedal. The rubber “o” ring (12) prevents the leakage from front end of the body. The entire body of the appliance is fixed to floor with help of suitable screws through slot (10).
Once the pedal is in idle condition the spindle’s distal end closes the partition of the chamber. Upon pressing the pedal the spring is compressed and partition is opened to allow the fluid to enter the proximal chamber and discharge the fluid through the outlet.
The dimension of the foot operated valve with linear and angular tolerance is mentioned below. (Dimensions in mm)
