DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0006] A footrest assembly includes a foot peg, the foot peg is a structure which supports the foot of the rider; a foot rest, the foot rest is a structure which supports the foot peg and mounts it to the frame structure. The foot rest assembly is mounted to a down frame of the frame assembly. The foot rest assembly is mounted to the down tube at two portions. At first portion, the foot rest assembly is directly mounted to the frames and at the second portion the foot rest assembly is mounted to the frame through a long bolt. The long bolt mounts a swing arm assembly as well as the foot rest assembly such that the swing arm is sandwiched in between the mounting of the foot rest and the down frame.
[0007] The right side of the vehicle when viewed from vehicle front, includes a muffler assembly and a brake pedal. The brake pedal is mounted to the foot rest assembly. The muffler assembly originates from an exhaust of the engine and passes towards rear of the vehicle. In certain vehicles the muffler is disposed substantially parallel to the ground to increase the performance of the muffler assembly, and also to enhance aesthetics for customer’s satisfaction. Since the muffler has catalytic convertors, it is desirable to keep the muffler straight with minimal bents to achieve optimum performance. However, since the foot rest being mounted to the down frame, due to space constraint in such vehicles it is a challenge to accommodate a muffler assembly below the frame assembly and the engine without fouling with the footrest. To combat the the challenge, the size of the frame can be increased so as to provide more space for mounting other components around the footrest. However, increasing the size of the frame will impact the size of other vehicular components supported on the frame, thereby changing the overall existing layout of the vehicle. In addition to that, increasing frame size also increases the weight, manufacturing man-hour resource, reducing vehicle handling etc. Furthermore, since the footrest is mounted to the frame directly, it is difficult to access the foot rest for servicing without accessing other vehicle components such as swing arm which is mounted to the frame using a common long bolt.
[0008] Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a vehicle with a structurally strong mounting structure for the footrest assembly, to provide optimum space for mounting of other vehicular components near the frame.
