Abstract: A two-wheeler is provided with footrest alarm and indicator that shows the status of the side footrest. An electrical circuit is designed that comprises of a switch, LED indicator and a Buzzer/alarm. Two switches are used in the circuit one is attached to the footrest and other is attached below the pillion rider seat and this circuit is connected to the battery of the vehicle. If the side footrest is in open condition and no one is sitting as a pillion rider on a two wheeler, then only the alarm signals/sounds. An indicator signal is also provided with in the meter unit that will remind the user about the status of the side footrest and the user can make judgement of the vehicle accordingly while driving. So this invention increases the safety of the rider.
FIELD OF INVENTION
The present invention relates to automobile design engineering. More specifically the present invention is directed towards footrest with alarm and indicator for two-wheeler.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 5 A footrest of two-wheeler also commonly called as ladies footrest designed and fitted in two wheelers for resting of the foot normally by a pillion rider.
Visual and audio signals are commonly used in the two wheelers and so they are generally equipped with indicator and buzzer/alarm for information and safety of the rider of the two-wheeler. 10
Commonly used indicators in a two-wheeler are left/right turn indicator with buzzer/alarm, speed indicator, fuel level indicator, high beam/low beam indicator, RPM indicator etc. Some other indicators include side stand open/close indicator and critical turning angle indicator.
Problems in existing two-wheelers
Sometimes when a pillion rider alights from the two wheeler, the driver forgets to close the 15 footrest and this results in accidents if the footrest gets entangled with some other vehicle on the road. Although many kinds of alarms are present but no such two wheeler is fitted with a footrest that contains an indicator and buzzer/alarm for indicating the open/ON or close/OFF of the side footrest of two-wheeler. If there is such system available, many accidents could be avoided.
20
Innovative approach proposed by the inventors
The inventors of the present invention has developed an indicator system with buzzer/alarm for indicating the open/On or close/OFF of side footrest of two-wheeler. This indicating system will help the rider in judging the space required for the vehicle so will increase safety of the rider and can also decrease accidents due to side footrest remaining open un-necessarily. 25

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION 10
The following description is of the best-contemplated mode of carrying out the invention.
The description is made for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention and should not be taken in a limiting sense.
Figure 1 shows the circuit diagram used for wiring of the side footrest of two-wheeler. The 15 circuit consists of main supply (1) that is operated through ON/OFF key of two wheeler, which is further connected to indicator (2) and Alarm/buzzer (3) that shows the indication of the side footrest status. The circuit also consists of two limit switches; one switch is at normally open position (4) which is connected to the footrest (6). The other limit switch (5) which is at normally close (NC) position is fitted under the seat of pillion rider. 20
Working of the present invention:
1- The power supply to the circuit is provided by the battery of the two wheeler.
2- Two limit switches are provided in the circuit, one is connected to footrest. This limit NO switch (4) is at normally open (NO) position. 25
3- Other limit NC switch (5) is provided under set of pillion rider, this limit switch is at normally close position.
4- When ON/OFF key (1) of the two wheeler is switched ON, power is supplied to the circuit.
9
5- If the pillion rider is not sitting and side footrest (6) of the two-wheeler is open/ON then only the indicator and buzzer/alarm will switch ON.
6- So when no person is sitting as a pillion rider and footrest (6) is in open condition, the footrest limit NO switch (4) closes and gives a signal to indicator with buzzer/alarm which gives output and the rider remembers to close the back footrest to avoid accidents. 5
7- But if pillion rider is sitting, the under seat limit NC (5) switch is in open position due to weight of the pillion rider. So no indication and buzzer rings.
Therefore the simple working of the present invention is very useful and effective. It can be fitted easily in any two wheeler.
Novelty 10
Novelty of the present invention lies in footrest with alarm and indicator for two-wheeler which informs the user about the side footrest status. If the side footrest is in open condition and no one is sitting as a pillion rider on a two wheeler, then only the alarm signals/sounds. An indicator signal is also provided with in the meter unit that will remind the user about the status of the side footrest and the user will make judgement of the vehicle accordingly while driving. It will also 15 increase the safety of the vehicle as few accidents that are caused due to side footrests of the two wheelers.
Inventive step
The inventive step of the present invention lies in developing a footrest with alarm and indicator for two-wheeler. An electrical circuit is designed that comprises of a switch, LED indicator and a 20 Buzzer/alarm. The inventors have carefully used the space below pillion seat to install a switch and the weight of the pillion rider is responsible for completing the circuit. This 25 approach seems novel and non-obvious.
10
Industrial Application
The invention finds industrial application in two wheelers manufacturing industries. As it can be used on any two wheeler and is very low cost, it has massive industrial application. The simplicity of the invention is such that it is very easy to be adopted in any two wheeler industry. Therefore the invention clears the industrial application test successfully.
I CLAIM:
1. A footrest with alarm and indicator for two-wheeler consisting of main supply (1) that is operated through ON/OFF key of two wheeler, which is further connected to indicator (2) and Alarm/buzzer (3), two limit switches, one of which is at normally open position (4) 5 and is connected to the footrest (6) while the other limit switch (5) is at normally close (NC) position and is fitted under the seat of pillion rider
WHEREIN after the ON/OFF key (1) of the two wheeler is switched ON:
- If no person is sitting as a pillion rider and footrest (6) is in open condition, the 10 footrest limit NO switch (4) closes and gives a signal to indicator which gives output in the form of buzzer/alarm;
- When pillion rider is sitting, the under seat limit NC (5) switch is in open position due to weight of the pillion rider and no signal is sent to indicator and thus no output in the form of buzzer/alarm is generated. 15
2. The footrest with alarm and indicator for two-wheeler as claimed in claim 1 WHEREIN status of the side footrest is displayed with the help of an indicator provided within the meter unit of the two wheeler.
